After Xu Yanzhi transferred the mark to herself, Xu Yi passed the written examination by drawing Dao Fruits from the Immaculate Wonderful Tree and the Seven Treasures Jade Tree.

• Xu Yi chose the Chaos Thunder Art, borrowed the Profound Yellow Essences needed to obtain it, and mastered its first layer by refining magnetic lightning.
• Xu Yi entered the Martial Trial, survived its opening battles, and recruited Xu Yanzhi to protect him as he collected merit points.
• Xu Yi teamed with Tang Heng and Dongming Neng to rob contestants for Profound Yellow Essence, then encountered Xu Yanzhi fighting Xuan Ye Wang and his allies.
• Xu Yi broke the Five-Star Sealing Array and carried the poisoned Xu Yanzhi out of the Cangming Smoke, but learned that Yuwen Tuo had arranged for him to become a Red Name.

Xu Yi took charge of the Fifth Supervision, uncovered a plot behind the corpse tide cases, and outmaneuvered Xuan Ye Wang and the Xiang Family. His stand won Heavenly Court’s support, earned him a promotion, and set him on the path toward the Second Realm.

• Xu Yi received his Subordinate Eighth Rank appointment, then confronted Yuwen Tuo and used evidence of his disgraceful conduct to end his threats.
• Xuan Ye Wang assigned Xu Yi to the Fifth Supervision and tried to force him to target Xu Yanzhi, but Xu Yi recorded his scheme and took charge in Yunzhou.
• Xu Yi investigated the corpse tide cases with help from Dongming Neng, Tang Heng, and Desolate, tracing the plot to Black Wind Venerable and the Xiang Family.
• Xu Yi disguised himself as Gong Chu and persuaded Xuan Ye Wang to join a plan to stage another corpse tide, then exposed the scheme when a raid captured Black Wind Venerable.

Xu Yi gathered Profound Yellow Essence, seized the Sui clan’s Origin Fire, and made a name for himself at the Jade Pool Gathering. He then entered the Dao Palace, where he humiliated his rivals, defeated Zuo Shihui, and demanded that Jia Zhaoxian fulfill their wager.

• Xu Yi persuaded Xiang Tianwen to trade one thousand pieces of Profound Yellow Essence for Gong Chu’s Acquired Spiritual Treasure and a pledge of peace, then secured further support from his friends and creditors.
• Xu Yi rescued Xu Yanzhi from poison, helped her fight off Sui clan attackers, and learned from Huangmei that the Sui clan’s Origin Token held its Origin Fire.
• Xu Yi claimed the token, adopted Zhu Suijie’s identity, and defended himself at the Jade Pool Gathering against accusations that he had accepted an assassination contract.

• Xu Yi enforced the wager against Jia Zhaoxian and the others, countered Ruan Hongchen’s charm, and helped Wu Pin pursue Yi Bingwei by persuading him to leave the Dao Palace.
• Xu Yi resisted Qi Tian and Wu Boji, exposed their abuses, and earned a place as assistant squad leader while Qi Tian was stripped of his status and imprisoned.
