Yi Lin was raised by Abbess Dingyi of the Hengshan Sect from childhood and became a nun. Her encounter with Tian Boguang during her first descent from the mountain leaves her frightened and inexperienced with the outside world. Before meeting Li Hao, she has already developed feelings for Linghu Chong, who repeatedly opposes Tian Boguang to protect her 3 9.

When Linghu Chong is losing his battle against Tian Boguang, Yi Lin begs Li Hao for help. Li Hao makes her agreement to become his concubine the condition for intervening; despite her vows and reluctance, Yi Lin accepts in order to save Linghu Chong 3.

Although she becomes jealous when Li Hao shows interest in Ning Zhongze, she ultimately accepts his decisions and believes that having more “sisters” may be beneficial 6. She is also willing to speak up for others: when Li Hao plans to execute Duan Yu, she pleads for mercy, though she avoids repeating the request after recognizing that she should not press Li Hao further 36 38.

Her innocence persists after leaving the sect. She eagerly shares Li Hao's white sugar with her master and fellow disciples, then learns not to display her second packet after Abbess Dingyi keeps the first one 9.

Tian Boguang Incident

Yi Lin enters Hengyang City alongside Tian Boguang and becomes caught in his conflict with Linghu Chong. After agreeing to Li Hao's condition, she is freed from her sealed acupoints and watches him intervene in the battle 3 4.

She tells Li Hao that Tian Boguang touched her through her clothing with both hands. Li Hao uses this as the basis for attacking Tian Boguang and later defeats him, while Yi Lin administers a Lesser Rejuvenation Pill to the injured Linghu Chong 4 5.

Renunciation of Vows

Li Hao accompanies Yi Lin back to the Hengshan Sect and formally presents fifty Lesser Rejuvenation Pills as a betrothal gift. Abbesses Dingxian, Dingjing, and Dingyi permit Yi Lin to renounce her vows, after which she remains affiliated with Hengshan as a lay disciple 5.

Her cultivation rises rapidly after this change, progressing from third-rate to first-rate and then to peak first-rate within the early stages of the journey 4 6 9.

Hengshan Sect Conflict and Journey to Jiangnan

Yi Lin remains with Li Hao during the Golden Basin Hand-Washing Ceremony and the ensuing violence around the Hengshan Sect. After Ning Zhongze recovers from her injuries, Yi Lin acknowledges her as an older sister and accepts her own position as Second Sister 13 15.

She leaves for Jiangnan with Li Hao, Ning Zhongze, and Qu Feifei. During the journey, she continues to travel with Li Hao's group and reaches Postnatal Mid-stage cultivation 16 18.

Duan Yanqing and Duan Yu Affairs

When Duan Yanqing attacks Li Hao's group, Yi Lin guards Qu Feifei, Lin Shiyin, and Long Xiaoyun near the carriage. Her confidence in Li Hao is so complete that she remains composed despite the Grandmaster-level confrontation 27.

At Canhe Manor, Yi Lin appeals to Li Hao to spare Duan Yu from being burned alive. Later, she questions why Li Hao still intends to execute Duan Yu after obtaining the Six Meridian Divine Sword manual, showing continued concern for the captive despite accepting Li Hao's authority 36 38.
