Tantai Bingyun rises as Tianyin Palace's foremost disciple of her generation. Her reputation is strong enough to unsettle peers from other major sects, including Xi Donglai, Li Huntian, and Qi Feifei, before she formally appears at the Heavenly Dao Alliance gathering 139 140.

At the gathering, she asks immediately for Ding Wanyan, disappointed to learn that her long-standing rival cannot attend. Although outwardly calm, she regards Ding Wanyan as the opponent most worthy of her attention 140 141.
