Li Yi left the barren mountain where he had sat for over a million years. There was nothing worth staying for, anyway; it had only been a place to rest, and mountains like it were a dime a dozen in the Primordial World.
Li Yi had no idea that his existence had left a great many people on edge, especially the Innate Demon Gods reincarnated from the remnant souls of the Chaos Demon Gods.
Not long after Li Yi left, several figures appeared where he had just broken through. Every one of them had reached the Golden Immortal realm, and one had even attained its peak.
One had to know that the world had been created no more than 1.5 million years ago. Although these people had taken form from Innate Spirits, even most Chaos Demon Gods had spent tens of millions of years comprehending the Great Dao Rhythms before breaking through to the Golden Immortal realm. It had taken hundreds of millions of years for them to attain the Grand Unity Golden Immortal realm.
This showed just how astonishingly talented these few were.
"Heh, old man Qiankun, what brings you here? Don't you spend all your time holed up in that doghouse of yours?" An old man in a Tai Chi Dao Robe, wearing a crown over his topknot and holding a jade-green Fly Whisk, spoke mockingly to the figure who had just arrived beside him.
"Hmph, Old Ghost Yin Yang, you're no better." Qiankun Ancestor clearly had no desire to bicker with him any longer. After speaking, he went to look at the place where Li Yi had been sitting.
"Daoist friends Qiankun, Yin-Yang, and Swallowing Heaven, you're here too." At that moment, a streak of crimson fire crossed the distant sky and arrived beside them in an instant.
"Daoist Lu Ya, you've come as well. You're always so well-informed. Do you know anything about this mysterious powerhouse?" Yin-Yang Ancestor, who had always been on good terms with Lu Ya, immediately asked.
Yin-Yang Ancestor was quite familiar with Lu Ya and knew his origins. As an Innate Fire Spirit, Lu Ya had awakened far earlier than ordinary Innate Spirits—he had awakened even before the world was created—and knew many secrets.
Lu Ya went to the place where Li Yi had sat and sensed the lingering aura. "It feels somewhat familiar, but it's very vague. I might be mistaken." Lu Ya shook his head with a sigh.
Meanwhile, Qiankun Ancestor noticed that Swallowing Heaven was acting strangely. His expression kept changing: one moment, he seemed furious beyond measure, and the next, utterly terrified. It was a complete transformation, enough to make anyone wonder.
"Hmm, could Swallowing Heaven know something?" The thought struck Qiankun Ancestor, and he couldn't hold back any longer. "Daoist Swallowing Heaven, do you know anything about him?"
As soon as he spoke, Lu Ya and Yin-Yang Ancestor immediately turned to stare at Swallowing Heaven, hoping he would let slip some secret.
Swallowing Heaven was in a miserable bind. It wasn't that he didn't know who Li Yi was; his memories were simply too vivid. Back then, Li Yi had chased him for over a hundred million kilometers. If they hadn't encountered a Demon God along the way who was far more badly injured than he was, he would probably have suffered the same fate as the other Demon Gods Li Yi devoured: Soul Annihilation.
Although Pangu had split apart his body, his remnant soul had still been able to reincarnate, hadn't it? Better to live poorly than die well. And now he also had a whole host of subordinates. Thinking of this, Swallowing Heaven breathed a sigh of relief.
He glanced at the three of them but gave them no further information. It would be best if they provoked that powerhouse and got themselves wiped out; then he could take over their forces. "He's someone you can't afford to provoke." Without giving them a chance to ask anything, he immediately flew away.
Lu Ya and the other two were left staring at one another. "Sigh, from now on, we should tell our subordinates not to provoke him," Qiankun Ancestor said before flying away as well.
"Dao Lord, it seems Swallowing Heaven knows something, but he refuses to tell us." Yin-Yang Ancestor swept his Fly Whisk at a small mountain and destroyed it, then spoke to Lu Ya.
"Mm. Daoist Yin-Yang, forget it. Daoist Qiankun is right. We simply won't provoke him. He can't just come after us for no reason, can he?" After saying this, Lu Ya turned into a streak of fiery light and departed.
Yin-Yang Ancestor sighed helplessly and left as well.
When the few of them returned to their respective territories, they immediately ordered their subordinates not to cause trouble for the time being. In particular, they were not to provoke any Demon God bearing Eight Wings, or they would be executed by Lingchi.
After hearing the news, the other forces, large and small, issued the same proclamation without consulting one another. For a time, the Primordial World enjoyed a period of peace.
Li Yi, meanwhile, became famous throughout the Primordial World and a taboo figure whom many forces dared not provoke.
Of course, Li Yi knew nothing about what had happened after he left. Even if he had known, he wouldn't have cared. After all, there was no one in the Primordial World who could threaten his life yet.
Not even Hongjun or Yang Mei could do so. Li Yi was confident of that much.
Since awakening, Li Yi had done nothing but cultivate or scheme to become stronger. He had grown somewhat weary of it all, so after choosing a direction toward the East Sea, he leisurely made his way there. After all, he had no idea how long it would be before he could enjoy this kind of leisure again.
Along the way, Li Yi took up the oldest profession on Earth: "farmer." If he came across good materials, he took them; if he found Innate Spiritual Roots, he took them; if he found Magic Treasures, he took them...
Li Yi collected things as he went. Of course, with many spiritual roots, he would only take a portion and leave the roots intact. He didn't need all of it, after all. There was no need to be so cruel.
Naturally, he wasn't going to leave them untouched. Li Yi knew that in later generations, sects would often fight desperately over a single Thousand-Year Spirit Material, sometimes even destroying entire sects.
The Primordial World might be full of spiritual materials now, but after the great wars shattered it and caused the Spiritual Qi to dissipate, even a single Innate Spirit Material might be enough to bring a Heavenly Immortal running.
So, for the sake of future generations, it was best to stockpile as much as possible while spiritual materials were plentiful. That way, there would be no need to fight to the death over them later. Besides, it wouldn't take much time, and it was a pleasant way to pass the time.
As he wandered along, stopping here and there, Li Yi broadened his horizons. The vast world truly held all kinds of wonders: fierce beasts with three legs and two mouths; goblins with their heads below and their bottoms up; creatures that ate only stones; and others that were enormous but timid as mice, chased all over the place by far weaker beasts...
Naturally, Li Yi also encountered plenty of fierce beasts that tried to stop him. He showed them no mercy. These were beasts born for slaughter, and Li Yi wiped them all out.
By the later stages of his journey, Li Yi had killed tens of millions of fierce beasts. The aura of slaughter around him far surpassed that of the Fierce Beast Kings. Whenever they encountered him, they fled from afar.
And just like that, a thousand years passed in the blink of an eye.
Today, Li Yi finally reached the shore of the East Sea. The boundless ocean stretched from horizon to horizon, billions of times broader than the oceans of his previous life. The sight was utterly breathtaking.
Next, he needed to find a vessel for his clone. He hoped he could find the Three Immortal Islands of the East Sea.
