Background / History

Konoha and Forbidden Research

Orochimaru was Hiruzen Sarutobi’s disciple and a teammate of Jiraiya and Tsunade. The three became known as the Sannin. He worked with Danzo on transplanting the First Hokage’s cells into living subjects 23 67.

According to Orochimaru, Danzo encouraged his forbidden research under Hiruzen’s direction, only for Konoha to declare him a rogue ninja when his results exceeded their control. Hiruzen later acknowledges that he deliberately allowed Orochimaru to escape after the experiments, while Zi Xu’s examination of Hiruzen’s memories confirms his tacit approval of the research 23 59 67.

Encounter at Ryūchi Cave

Orochimaru meets Zi Xu after the latter arrives through Reverse Summoning. He quickly identifies Zi Xu’s Uzumaki heritage, Konoha background, and unusual physique. During their conversation, he presents allegations about Konoha’s political sacrifices and the destruction of its founding clans, enjoying the apparent collapse of Zi Xu’s faith in the Will of Fire 23.
