"Great Wolfdog, it's enough to knock these Tangela out," Aiven said in time, watching the scene unfold.
The Great Wolfdog leader paused at his words, then tossed the Tangela in his jaws aside. The Tangela hit the ground, clearly unable to fight any longer.
After spitting out the Tangela, the Great Wolfdog leader chewed the vines still in his mouth, then spat them onto the ground. They tasted awful.
Once the Great Wolfdog joined the battle, the Tangela were quickly defeated. The villagers breathed a sigh of relief, but remained wary of the Great Wolfdogs.
Just then, while the villagers were still on guard, they saw one Great Wolfdog suddenly collapse onto its back, all four legs in the air, and begin twitching.
Then a second, a third, a fourth... More and more Great Wolfdogs began falling over.
"Great Wolfdogs, what's wrong?"
Peter was startled to see one Great Wolfdog after another collapse. He hurried over to check on them.
"What's wrong with these Great Wolfdogs?"
"Could the vines on those Tangela be poisonous?"
The villagers were all puzzled and offered their guesses.
When they thought the Great Wolfdogs might have been poisoned while helping them defeat the Tangela, the wariness in their eyes faded, replaced by concern.
"Don't worry. The vines on the Tangela aren't poisonous. In fact, they're edible."
"I think the Great Wolfdogs passed out because... it's really stinky here, and a Great Wolfdog's sense of smell is a hundred times stronger than a human's."
Aiven suddenly spoke with a laugh, leaving the villagers momentarily stunned.
The stench... Only then did they realize that Gloom had indeed released a great deal of foul-smelling gas to attack the Tangela. At the thought, some villagers twitched their noses and immediately felt nauseous.
Then they looked at the Great Wolfdogs.
