Formation

A cultivator forms a Golden Core when their Spiritual Power has reached completion at the peak of late Foundation Establishment and they gain the necessary comprehension. The route to that comprehension varies: it may be deliberately sought, arise naturally, or be inspired by an external object. 217

Functions and Significance

The Golden Core Stage was historically considered the dividing line between mortals and immortals because cultivators at this stage could fly freely before the invention of flying boats. It is also called the “Golden Core Great Dao.” 213

Unusual Formation Methods

• Multiple cores — The Seventh Elder deduced that two Golden Cores could attract and rotate around one another, but calculations for three cores proved too burdensome for a Golden Core Stage cultivator. 120
• Pill Fragrance Core — Senior Brother Lu repeatedly re-formed his First-grade core until it developed Pill Fragrance; its notable effect was being especially fragrant. 177
• Brow Core — One Dao Seeking Sect disciple placed his Golden Core between his brows to imitate a sacred third eye. 217
• Brilliant Star method — Yun Zhi's method is explicitly considered non-replicable; she warns that those who imitate or merely resemble it die. 241
