Background / History

Minato recruits Hyuga Kazuya into his squad and demonstrates the Flying Thunder God Technique upon their first meeting. He then brings Kazuya to meet the grieving Hatake Kakashi, becoming Kakashi's supervising jonin as well. Though initially unsure how to reach Kakashi, Minato patiently supports him as Kazuya helps the boy find a new purpose in becoming stronger. 12

As a teacher, Minato postpones training plans when Kakashi collapses from exhaustion and intends to develop his students through combat experience, teamwork, knowledge of the shinobi world, and personal values rather than basic academy exercises they have already mastered. 14 22 He later accepts an S-rank investigation mission for the squad but delays its departure to give Kakashi time to recover from his father's death. 22
