Background / History
Gu Panyan grew up as a left-behind child and endured bullying. Before her grandfather’s death, she was timid, insecure, and afraid of ghosts; afterward, she learned to protect herself through fighting, believing that showing weakness only invites further abuse. Her grandfather’s wood carvings later became the model for the fierce spirit tattoos on her arm. 8 75 76
Her reputation at school was built through violence. She frequently fought, ruined school uniforms in those fights, and became someone few students dared provoke. When rumors were spread about her, she forcibly brought Peng Yan and others to the school broadcasting station and made them publicly refute them. 33 39
Although her grades were initially poor, Gu Panyan accepted Wang Ge’s tutoring and improved to 326 points in a mock examination. She later registered to study psychology, despite feeling that the university life she had imagined as a child had slipped away from her. 33 114
After the college entrance examination, she returned to her hometown with Wang Ge to visit her grandfather’s grave. During the trip, she confronted the local butcher whose unleashed dog endangered residents, and she revisited the childhood fears represented by her tattoos. 51 74 76
She later handled her father’s financial and personal situation in Haisha, forcing him to return to Changchuan and investigating the woman connected to his past. 91 93
By the extra chapter, Gu Panyan has become a Doctor of Psychology and has treated Wang Ge’s mental illness. 354
Appearance
Gu Panyan is a slender, strikingly attractive woman with a naturally lazy demeanor. She is approximately 1.70 meters tall, exercises regularly, and is noted for her athletic physique. 192
- Melon-seed-shaped face and peach blossom eyes. 33 61
- Long, silky hair. 64 110
- Fair, slender build with a defined waist, abdominal muscles, and long legs. 33 192
- Usually wears long sleeves to conceal the tattoos on her right arm. 33 88
- Her right arm bears fierce demon and evil-spirit tattoos based on her grandfather’s wood carvings. 33 75
- Changes into long sleeves when meeting Wang Ge’s mother, aware that others may judge her tattoos. 88
Personality
Gu Panyan is blunt, proud, and fiercely independent. She dislikes being managed, refuses gifts she does not genuinely want, and takes decisive control when dealing with family problems or threats. Her hostility toward her mother is rooted in their strained relationship and her desire to live without interference. 42 91 93
Her intimidating reputation conceals a person shaped by fear and repeated mistreatment. She is highly suspicious of other people’s motives and admits that she tends to interpret others through the worst possible assumptions. Her experiences made sincerity difficult for her to trust, though she gradually recognizes Li Zhimeng’s genuine kindness. 64 346
With people she accepts, Gu Panyan is relaxed, teasing, and protective. She often responds to Wang Ge’s flirting with insults, threats, or physical retaliation, but she also accompanies him when he needs help, checks on his well-being, and openly states that she likes no one else. 61 64 181
She has little interest in fame, social-media attention, or ambitious public plans, preferring an easygoing life when she is not studying, training, or dealing with those close to her. 51 297
