Background

Qing Tan grew up in the Lin Family alongside Lin Mu and Lin Dong. As a young teenager, she was close to both brothers and often accompanied them home or called them to meals. Though she had begun caring about her appearance, she remained lively and readily traded playful insults with Lin Mu. 3

Her Fiend Demon Body caused periodic eruptions of devastating yin-cold energy, leaving her unconscious and frosting the area around her. Lin Mu used the Stone Talisman to temporarily absorb this energy, then explained that she would need an extremely cold catalyst to condense a Yin Core and gain control of her constitution. 6

Lin Mu later obtained Extreme Yin Dragon Saliva from the Ancient Tomb for her. On a full-moon night, Qing Tan endured the accumulated yin-sha energy within her body, condensed her Yin Core, and eliminated the threat of uncontrolled cold energy. 39 49

Bo Xuan, Hall Master of the Dark Hall, recognized Qing Tan's Fiend Demon Body as especially suited to the Dark Hall's cultivation methods and began teaching her. Qing Tan initially delayed becoming Bo Xuan's formal disciple because she did not want to leave Lin Mu, but later departed with her master to receive the Dark Hall's inheritance. 82 86 129

After Lin Mu became wanted by the Yuan Sect, Qing Tan resolved to inherit Bo Xuan's mantle. Her stated goal was to gain the authority needed to accompany Lin Mu in destroying the Yuan Sect upon his return. 222

Qing Tan is affectionate, playful, and deeply attached to Lin Mu and Lin Dong. She dislikes being left behind when they travel, repeatedly asks to accompany Lin Mu, and is determined to become strong enough to protect him herself. 16 34 50 97

She is ambitious about cultivation and becomes frustrated when she feels her progress is too slow. However, she accepts Lin Mu's warning that reckless pursuit of strength can lead to qi deviation. 34 103

Her devotion can turn severe when Lin Mu is threatened. In confronting the Magic Rock Dynasty, she displayed open killing intent toward those who had placed a bounty on him, and later chose the Dark Hall succession in part to support his revenge against the Yuan Sect. 107 222
