Shazo: Look, Batman, This Is Crime Within the Law
Shazo 'Joker plan took a little longer, but he still managed to blend into the traffic before school let out and escape the police pursuit.
Okay, this doesn't prove he's great, it just proves Gotham's police are useless.
How many schools are there in Gotham City? How many school buses are there in total?
Is it really that difficult to deploy police and roadblocks to stop and inspect school buses that are completely empty of children?
Unless it is absolutely certain or there is no risk involved, the Gotham City police will not act, and even a forced order will not work.
This is not a problem with the police, but a problem with the City Government.
They only make a few hundred dollars a month. If they get hurt, they suffer the consequences; if they die, it's all over, and their families can only cry. How can you expect such unprotected police officers to take responsibility?
However, the City Government couldn't really do anything. It had no money, no manpower, and couldn't change policies. The mayor, the leader of the City Government, was powerless.
The mayor only serves a four-year term, with the Parliament above him and Hereditary Officials below him. What can he possibly do?
Ultimately, it's because Gotham City is no longer a normal city, but rather an appendage of the Wayne Family's business empire.
The Wayne Family Group already controls over 90% of the city's wealth, yet it continues to operate like Trust Group, refusing to shoulder its due social responsibility. How can this city not descend into chaos?
This is similar to some small resource-based cities. Although there may be injustices, the order is never so chaotic because resource-based enterprises, after taking all the profits, also shoulder their due social responsibilities.
Since the root of the problem lies with Wayne Group Corporation, it's quite obvious who the enemy is.
Bruce Wayne?
No, no, no, he's not worthy.
Bruce Wayne is just a person, a puppet put forward by the Wayne Group, a foolish capitalist who doesn't understand "Das Kapital" and therefore has no idea about his own position.
It's not that he's completely useless.
If Bruce Wayne, as the flag bearer of the Wayne Group, were truly wicked, Gotham would become an evil empire under the guise of order.
If he were truly a good person, he would have died mysteriously somewhere, just like his parents.
Just like those Grand Leader imaginative ideas.
Therefore, the enemy is the Wayne Group.
The Wayne Group a corporate entity like Godspawn, with President Bruce Wayne being its flower, the gangsters being a disguise nurtured on its surface by peripheral interests, and supervillains being the greatest evil resulting from all this evil.
Because the negative consequences did indeed harm Wayne Group ' interests, Batman was created as one of its weapons to take down those supervillains who went too far.
This created an unbreakable outer perimeter, protecting the Wayne Group's core operations perfectly.
Therefore, the first step in striking at Wayne Group is to destroy this vicious cycle, strip away its outer layer, and expose Wayne Group to the Blade and to public scrutiny.
Shazo, driving the school bus, suddenly burst into hearty laughter. "Haha, I know who to kill! Kill them all, let's create a just and peaceful world!"
Suddenly possessing such great power is like an ordinary person suddenly getting a gun; they really can't help but want to test its edge.
Now that he had found a worthy opponent to test his skills, Shazo naturally felt great. Finding a definite enemy was so exhilarating, and it even made him more excited.
However, the first thing to do now is to hide the money, and then buy houses, acquire properties, and build various equipment and peripheral organizations.
You can't exactly go shirtless.
Not only would they lack intelligence sources, but they would also be easily slandered as enemies of humanity, ending up like a Superman.
Therefore, Shazo still needs time to prepare.
The bank robber escaped; this is commonplace in Gotham, and nobody saw anything wrong with it.
Bank robbers killing each other is commonplace, and nobody seems to see anything wrong with it.
It's quite common for bank Main Hall managers to get taken down; after all, their job is fraught with danger, and it's not uncommon for them to slip up occasionally.
However, today's situation is different because one of the dead robbers resembles the Joker.
The real Joker.
According to eyewitnesses, the guy who painted himself up like Joker and then wore Joker mask did indeed look very much like Joker.
His behavior was insane, his logic was chaotic, and his methods were cruel. He killed as casually as breathing, and when he was killed, he felt no fear, but rather an unusual excitement.
Aside from the Joker, no one else would be this crazy.
Moreover, the monster who killed him was an extremely powerful Esper Powers, completely immune to close-range light weapon attacks and Grenade explosions.
--
This monster had been lurking in the Joker Gang for a year. Underneath the Joker's mask was a Monkey mask, and he even spoke in a madman's manner. He was a complete madman, no less than the Joker himself.
The police dragged their feet on inspecting the scene, collecting all the bodies, and casually dumping most of them at the funeral home. Only the body suspected to Joker was taken to the Police Department and stored in the morgue awaiting autopsy.
As darkness fell, the police went home after get off work, leaving behind only ineffective yellow tape to protect the scene.
So people of all sorts entered the bank one after another.
The first to arrive were homeless people, who came to see if they could find anything useful or valuable.
Then came the gangsters employed by the bank. They chased away the homeless man, and with an attitude ten times more serious and skills a hundred times more professional than the police, they re-examined the scene, found many useful clues, and then left.
Then Batman appeared, used even more high-tech methods to re-examine the scene, and then left silently.
Finally, the homeless people who had been driven away returned and thoroughly searched the place, leaving not even the yellow tape at the door.
Inside the police station office, Commissioner Gordon James Gordon reviewed all the intelligence, including surveillance video, eyewitness testimonies, and the Main Hall manager's statement, and his brow furrowed.
He gently pressed his head with his hand, softly reassuring himself, "Gordon, don't be nervous. A madman killing a madman is better than one madman living."
Just then, a deep, husky voice rang out. "Officer, may I see the report in your hand?"
"Shift!" Gordon took a deep breath. "Another lunatic!"
But he still handed the information to Batman; after all, they had gone through life-and-death situations together several times and had established a basic level of trust.
Batman quickly scanned the report using the equipment, then connected with the supercomputer in the Batcave and rapidly performed data analysis.
After a moment, he said in a low voice, "This is a madman who is more dangerous than the Joker. I will find him, capture him, and lock him up in Arkham."
Gordon waved dismissively. "Alright, all the best."
"Thank you." Batman flicked his cape, jumped out of the sixth-floor window he had entered through, and disappeared into the deep night sky.
Batman has access to all of Gotham's surveillance cameras, including but not limited to police-owned traffic cameras, private residential security cameras, and industrial and mining security cameras. With the help of supercomputer image comparison, he quickly located the yellow school bus with its rear end damaged and, following its trajectory, found an abandoned factory.
In Gotham, factories built in the 1980s and abandoned in the 1990s are everywhere, becoming ideal hiding places for criminal activities.
Unfortunately, the factory's warehouse contained only school buses, no criminals, and no money.
Just as Batman was carefully inspecting the school bus and searching for clues, Shazo returned in a black SUV.
Shazo Zuo parked the car in front of the warehouse, opened the door, dragged a mangled body from the back seat, and continued dragging it toward the warehouse, leaving a shocking, wide trail of blood.
Upon seeing the tall and muscular Batman, Shazo greeted him without any surprise, "Good evening, Batman."
Batman looked at the man who was barely alive and asked, "Who is he?"
Shazo grabbed the man's hair, lifted his head, and displayed his blood-smeared face to Batman, boasting with no small amount of pride, "Alberto Falcone, a pretty ruthless guy."
Batman's pupils constricted sharply. "Alberto Falcone? Carmine Falcone's son?"
"You actually targeted the Falcone Family?"
"No, you're wrong," Shazo corrected Batman. "It wasn't me who attacked the Falcone Family; it was him who shot at me while I was driving without any reason. I had no choice but to defend myself. It was self-defense!"
Batman: "----"
"You're Esper Powers, and he shot you without hurting you. How could you hit him so hard?"
"Ouch! You hypocritical bastard!" Shazo cursed without any politeness, "Even before they hit you, you still beat them to a pulp. How dare you accuse me of self-defense when I completely met the Stand Your Ground Law?"
"You lawless and criminal bastard, how dare you stand on a moral high ground and criticize me, a person who is just legally defending my own rights, as if I were a moral Saint?"
"Is there any law left? Is there any Justice left? Is there any humanity left?"
Batman: "----"
He remained silent for a long time before finally speaking, "You killed the Joker."
Shazo immediately retorted, "He's a serial killer, currently robbing a bank, and he also attempted to murder me!"
Batman, his chest aching from the impact, couldn't help but snap, "You're a bank robber too!"
Shazo threw Alberto Falcone to the ground and reached out to Batman: "Do you have proof that I robbed you?"
Batman was furious. "You said yourself that you killed the Joker— "
Shazo: "That was a confession obtained under your inducement. A one-sided confession cannot be used as reliable evidence and will not be accepted by the court."
He grinned and added, "This is a bill that the late Mr. Wayne proposed and pushed through in Parliament. Such a law can protect you from being convicted, and of course, it can also protect me from being convicted."
Batman: "----"
Shazo waved his hand dismissively and said, "Let's go, I need to deal with Alberto Falcone properly."
Batman narrowed his eyes. "You're going to kill him?"
Shazo Zuo chuckled, "Yeah, he shot me with a gun, so I punched him back. That makes perfect sense, doesn't it?"
Batman: "He's already incapacitated. This is murder!"
Shazo continued to laugh, "You mean, only he can kill me, and I can't resist?"
Batman: "I don't reason with a lunatic like you."
Shazo stuck out his tongue happily. "Hehehe, you can't provide any evidence with the law, you can't explain the fairness of the reasoning, and you still dare to label me as crazy? Isn't that just being a scoundrel!"
"As expected of Batman, invincible!!"
Batman: "----"
After a long silence, he spoke again, "I'll be watching you. If you kill someone, I'll arrest you!"
"You're arresting me?" Shazo retorted. "What right do you have to arrest me? Do you have law enforcement authority?"
Batman: "I'll hand you over to the police."
Shazo asked curiously, "What use is it for you to hand me over to the police?"
"If I can make the body disappear, according to the law there is no murder case. How can I be accused of murder if there is no murder case?"
"You! You, you—" Batman stammered for a long time, but couldn't utter a single word.
He was willing to bear the burden of sin in order to save Gotham, determined to uphold fairness and Justice through criminal means.
Therefore, the law is his bottom line. In the name of the law, he beats up all kinds of criminals, murderers, and gangsters and then hands them over to the police.
In order to uphold the law, he gritted his teeth and accepted even a not-guilty verdict from the court.
But Batman never expected that he would encounter such a freak as Shazo.
His actions were all illegal, yet he constantly spoke of the law. His methods were extremely crude, yet he precisely skirted the edge of the law, leaving no evidence. He committed crimes right in front of him, yet he was left helpless.
But Batman is no ordinary man; he is a man of unwavering and steadfast will!
If I think you're wrong, you're wrong, even if everything you do is legal. That doesn't stop me from beating you up and then handing you over to the police!
Batman has caught criminals before, but they were released in court due to insufficient evidence.
Therefore, determining whether you have committed a crime is the court's business, while beating and arresting you is Batman's business; the two are unrelated.
After figuring things out, Batman pulled out a stun batarang from his waist and threw it at Shazo's neck, intending to save Alberto Falcone, the serial killer.
However, the batarang didn't hit Shazo; it stopped half a meter away from his body, so it couldn't stop Shazo from punching Alberto in the head.
Shazo's punch didn't look heavy, fast, or even fierce.
But when the fist landed on Alberto's mangled head, it pierced through the skull with unstoppable force, and the next moment the entire body exploded, turning into a bloody mess.
Shazo clicked his tongue and complained, "Tsk, it's all your fault. If you hadn't interfered, I wouldn't have accidentally killed him."
