"Feels so good to be free."
Kevin lay on the hotel sofa and sighed in comfort.
Ever since escaping last night, for some reason, he had felt light all over, as if he had cast off a heavy burden.
A bright future was waiting for him ahead!
"Come to think of it, when is that teacher Jin mentioned supposed to arrive?"
Kevin muttered to himself, unable to help recalling what Jin had told him before they parted.
Jin had told him he had found a teacher for him, but had not said how they would meet or given any other information.
He had only said that the teacher would come find him. Now that he had abandoned his former identity, could they really find him?
"Forget it. Why worry about that? They must have their own ways."
Just as he was enjoying this rare moment of peace, someone knocked on the door.
Kevin sprang up and rushed to the door, frowning.
He cautiously looked through the peephole.
Were the police here?
Yet what he saw through the peephole was something even more terrifying.
Her?
Standing outside was the blonde little girl with twin ponytails who had been "to his taste" last night.
She was smiling at him, as if she could see him through the peephole.
Why? Why was she here?
Kevin frowned as his mind raced wildly.
Bang bang bang!
"Big brother, open the door! I came to thank you!"
Bullshit! There was no way she had come to thank him.
If he opened the door, there might be SWAT officers lying in wait nearby.
Kevin stopped hesitating and quickly slipped toward the balcony by the window. He had deliberately booked a room on the second floor so he could escape, with the balcony facing the street behind the building.
Without hesitation, he climbed over the balcony and jumped down.
The moment he landed and straightened up, he found a gentle-looking man in a white shirt standing before him. He wore glasses and smiled at him.
In Kevin's eyes, the Aura around the man was surging.
"Hi!" The man even waved at him.
Without hesitation, Kevin gathered Aura in his Legs, stomped the ground, and sprinted toward the wall beside him.
"Yungu, if you let him get out of this courtyard today..."
The Girl's voice came from above.
It was the blonde little girl with twin ponytails, who should have been knocking at the door.
"Yes, Master!" Yungu solemnly accepted the order and vanished from the spot.
The next instant, he appeared behind Kevin.
"So fast!" Kevin's eyes widened.
In that tense moment, he instantly twisted away to the left.
Bang!
With a deafening crash, a Fist smashed a crater into the stone slabs below.
"Are you trying to kill me?!"
Kevin asked in shock. If that had hit him, he would have been crippled even if he survived.
Without hesitation, he drew the pistol from his waist.
"Don't move!"
Yungu stood before Kevin again, his expression stern, with the corner of his shirt hanging loose.
"You cannot achieve training by relying on something like that."
"You're insane."
What a fucking idiot. Now he's lecturing me?
"Back off, or I'll shoot!"
"Then shoot. Aim for his head," the Girl on the balcony said eagerly, as though watching a show.
"Don't think I won't! I'll really shoot!"
Though he did not know why, Kevin felt he had run into something he could not handle.
Neither of these two looked normal.
What rotten luck. He had clearly done nothing, yet these troubles had latched onto him.
But perhaps this was the price of crossing over and coming back to life.
He had not even had the chance to learn this true supernatural power from the teacher he had never met.
Well, no helping it. Kevin sighed inwardly and silently drew out a potion he had prepared long ago from his waist.
It was a product constructed using the original body's innate Nen ability.
"Moment's Dream."
He abruptly poured the potion into his mouth and pulled the trigger at the same time.
Yungu instantly tilted his head aside and dodged.
"Hm? He wasn't aiming for my head?"
Kevin had aimed for his shoulder. He thought the other man might be some kind of Nen ability police officer, specifically here to arrest Nen-using criminals like him.
As the potion went down, power surged through him, and his entire body became extraordinarily light and strong.
He still had no intention of confronting them head-on. He only wanted to escape.
But Yungu, whose strength far surpassed his, clearly gave him no chance to run. Once again, he appeared before him at an incomprehensible speed.
His mind had reacted, but his body could not keep up.
A punch came crashing down. Kevin helplessly crossed his arms to block it, but the immense force sent him flying into the wall.
It hurts!
After learning to use Nen ability, this was the first time he had felt such a heavy blow.
It was as if Aura's defense did not work. He had clearly deliberately controlled the Aura in his body and gathered it at the point of impact, yet he still felt unbearable pain.
The Aura in the other man's attack was greater than his own.
He felt the fist wind coming and hurriedly raised his arm, meeting it once again. This time, he endured the pain and blocked it, while his right fist shot upward toward the other's stomach.
A knee strike cut off his attack.
Yungu had no choice but to pull back.
Defend, look for an opening; defend, look for an opening.
Thus, with barely any room to strike back, Kevin was forced onto the defensive.
Yet he managed to hold on under such circumstances. He looked miserable, but seemed not to have suffered any real injuries, and the Flow of Aura through his body grew smoother and smoother.
The twin-tailed Girl stood quietly on the balcony watching the scene, frowning from time to time, then nodding from time to time.
Finally, a heavy punch sent Kevin flying, crashing him into the wall once more.
This time, Kevin truly had no strength left. He felt hollow inside.
He sat helplessly on the ground, gasping for breath, and slightly raised his head to look at Yungu as he walked up to him.
His hand had originally moved to draw his gun, but after thinking it over, he lowered it again.
If they could even dodge bullets, what could he do?
Besides, he no longer had the strength to stand.
He silently raised both hands and pressed them together.
Yet the cold handcuffs he had imagined never appeared.
Kevin raised his head in confusion. "What are you doing? Don't tell me you're going to use vigilante justice and kill me?"
That would be too unfair. He felt like he could still be saved.
Well, considering the crimes the original body had committed, perhaps it would not be unfair?
But whatever. If he really ended up in prison, Jin would bail him out.
He knew very well how valuable he was to Jin.
"What are you talking about?"
Yungu gave him a strange look, ignored him, and instead looked up at the second-floor balcony.
"Master, this should be enough, right?"
With a leap, the twin-tailed Girl appeared before Kevin.
Kevin more or less understood.
She was called Master, yet looked like a child. She seemed like the youthful-looking master often seen in film and television.
Thinking about it this way, had what he did last night actually ruined her operation to capture those traffickers?
Kevin's mind wandered wildly.
"You're Kevin? Jin asked me to teach you."
"?"
A huge question mark seemed to pop up over Kevin's head.
What the hell?
That still did not make sense. If that were true, why had she appeared in the human traffickers' vehicle?
If everything had been arranged by her, then the more he thought about it, the more terrifying it became.
Wouldn't that mean she had investigated the original body's life down to its underwear?
Otherwise, it could not have been such a coincidence that he had been captured by human traffickers, and then the traffickers had happened to hide here to evade the search.
Were all Nen users Monsters?
Kevin's awe of this world deepened once again.
