The current Supermen all knew what that Superman had just done, and they had made up their minds as well: if their universe was destroyed, they would splash Nemesis with blood too!
And the Supermen had discovered something else. That Superman's self-detonation had not been without effect on Nemesis. At the very least, in the instant he blew himself up, the pressure felt by every universe the Supermen were in had dropped by a great deal.
In other words, if there really were enough Supermen self-detonating together, they would definitely be able to affect Nemesis. At the very least, they could slow the destruction of the other Supermen's universes.
For the Supermen, this was a major discovery. They did not lack the courage to sacrifice themselves—especially after their universes were destroyed.
Nor did they lack the spirit of devotion. As long as they could protect the remaining universes, even their sacrifices would gain greater meaning.
And at this moment, Clark naturally knew exactly what that previous Superman had gone through, and he understood even more clearly what these Supermen were thinking. It made Clark's wavering heart gradually grow firm.
Of course Clark knew that when Earth suffered crisis after crisis, there would always be people who, because the destruction caused by battles between extraordinary beings was too severe, questioned the Avengers: what exactly had you protected?
But if they refused to stop crisis after crisis simply because they feared the destruction would be too severe, would the destructive power brought by those crises truly become smaller? And would those crises ultimately resolve themselves?
No. They would not, and they could not.
If Clark did not act now, even if those individual universes were not destroyed because of the battle between Clark and Jehovah, the destruction of those universes would only
