"No, I just need a Sky Island that's relatively close to me, and a way to get up there!"

The great pirates of the New World all knew Sky Islands existed. Even the World Government knew.

But unless one intended to live there long-term, there would be some discomfort upon first arriving. Life up there was also not as free as on the open sea, so not many people set their sights on Sky Islands.

Bai Ye did not want—or rather, did not currently want—to have any entanglement of interests with Golden Lion.

Having Golden Lion send him to Birka was obviously the fastest method.

But first, he would owe Golden Lion a huge favor, just like how Kaido had obtained the Azure Dragon Fruit from Big Mom.

Likewise, if Golden Lion found out that the fruit Bai Ye wanted was the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, there was no way Golden Lion would hand it over to him.

Golden Lion was an out-and-out ambitious man. Within pirate crews—especially crews like the Rocks Pirates, whose members had gathered for profit—there was little trust to speak of. Not every pirate crew was like the Straw Hat Pirates. Even the Whitebeard Pirates had produced a traitor like Blackbeard, hadn't they?

"Well, then you'll have to go up from either the Grand Line or Western Sky Peak. One route is the Upward Current, and the other is through the skies over West Blue. You can climb up through a Giant Tree, but it's guarded by the Giant tribe, so getting up there probably won't be so easy!"

Captain John told Bai Ye several ways to get up there, but he still advised him to seek out Golden Lion.

Golden Lion's ability was simply too convenient. As long as Golden Lion helped, Bai Ye could go to a Sky Island whenever he wanted.

Of course, if Bai Ye was unwilling, Captain John would not say anything else.

After hearing Captain John's suggestion, Bai Ye fell into thought.

One was in West Blue, the other on the Grand Line. Both seemed to take far too long. There was no way he could return in just over a month. Did he really have no choice but to ask Golden Lion for help?

"Fine. Looks like I can only go find Golden Lion."

Bai Ye sighed. It seemed he had no choice this time. He would probably have to owe Golden Lion a favor.

But Golden Lion only needed to drop him onto a Sky Island. Bai Ye could search for it himself. Once he got the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, he could return on his own, or have Golden Lion wait for him. If Birka did not have the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, he would return with Golden Lion.

Bai Ye suddenly thought of someone. He turned to Captain John and asked, "Does the New World have Giant Trees too?"

The Giant Trees were Adam Trees, guarded by different Giant tribes. Bai Ye felt there was a high chance all of those trees could lead to Sky Islands, and the way up was to climb!

Climb all the way up!

If one fell halfway through, unless they possessed a body as absurdly tough as Kaido's, they were basically dead.

According to the original story, after Luffy and the others left Sky Island, Bellamy later made it up there as well. But he had not taken the Upward Current route. He had gone through Western Sky Peak. The so-called Western Sky Peak meant climbing upward from beneath a Giant Tree, and that was why Bellamy said nearly all of his underlings had died—they had all died on the way up the tree.

"Hey, hey, hey, you're not seriously thinking of trying it, are you?"

Captain John was dumbfounded when he saw Bai Ye seemed to be taking it seriously.

The death rate was incredibly high!

"Of course. I'll treat it as training. If I can't even do this, how am I supposed to hold onto my position as captain?"

"You're serious?"

"Dead serious!"

Bai Ye nodded. Time-wise, there was simply not enough time now.

He could only climb up from a Giant Tree in the New World, or seek out Golden Lion. But Bai Ye did not want to owe Golden Lion a favor.

Once he owed Golden Lion a favor, he would probably have to contribute when it came time to deal with Roger. For now, Bai Ye did not want another enemy. Besides, Roger and the others had no conflict of interest with him. He only had to wait for Roger to die.

Whether it was the current Rocks, or the three legendary pirates who followed—Roger, Golden Lion, and Whitebeard—none of them were people he could afford to challenge with his current strength.

Bai Ye's plan was to lie low for now, then begin his own era once the age of the Four Emperors arrived. After all, no matter how recklessly he threw his life away at this point, it would be useless, because Poseidon had not yet been born.

But when Bai Ye thought about it, that was true. This was not yet the era when the Four Emperors divided up the New World. Big Mom had desperately tried to win over the Giant tribe, but to Rocks, the Giant tribe was not really someone they needed to put much effort into recruiting.

The rulers of the New World were now the Rocks Pirates. With so many monsters gathered under them, even if the Giant tribe offended them, they would still be wiped out.

"Fine, let's set off now!"

After saying that, Bai Ye set out with Captain John. When they arrived before the Giant Tree guarded by the Giant tribe, Bai Ye looked at the colossal tree piercing straight into the sky. A trace of emotion flashed through his eyes before he turned to Captain John and said, "I'm starting my climb. John, if you want to leave, you can go first."

"Fuck! Even if I'm going to watch you fall from the sky, I'll watch to the end! How can I just leave?"

A dark line flashed across Bai Ye's face. He glanced at John, then at the Giants beside them, who dared to be angry but dared not speak, and began climbing upward.

The tree leading to Sky Island from the New World was the toughest one, because of the New World's unpredictable weather. Even high in the sky, it could still be affected.

For the first three thousand meters, Bai Ye felt somewhat tired, but there were not many problems. After coming to the One Piece World, his physical strength had become incredibly formidable.

At six thousand meters, Bai Ye felt that every step upward was exceptionally difficult. His hands would not stop trembling, the air grew thinner and thinner, and it felt as though a powerful gravity was pressing him back toward the ground.

At nine thousand five hundred meters, Thunder Snakes drifting through the clouds lashed at Bai Ye's body.
