| Name | Martial Soul (武魂) |
| Occupation/Role | An innate soul-linked medium through which Soul Masters wield Soul Power to affect themselves and the outside world 1 118 |
| First Appearance | Chapter 1: “Awakening and Doubt” |
Awakening
Children undergo Martial Soul Awakening at age six, regardless of wealth or status. In Nuoding City, the ceremony is administered by Martial Soul Hall official Su Yuntao through a hexagonal formation. The formation’s energy stimulates the child’s latent Martial Soul, causing it to manifest. 1 2
A blue crystal ball is then used to test the awakened child’s Soul Power. A Martial Soul without Soul Power cannot be cultivated into a Soul Master under conventional practice. 2
Zhang Bufan’s awakening broke the hall’s barrier and manifested as a small bronze cauldron. The testing crystal exploded under his Soul Power, registering only as “???” level. 2

Soul Power, Soul Rings, and Soul Skills
- Soul Power is the energy wielded through a Martial Soul. Its amount traditionally determines a Soul Master’s cultivation level and capacity for sustained combat. 1 119
- Soul Rings conventionally provide Soul Skills and increase a Soul Master’s capabilities. Absorbing a ring from a Soul Beast normally requires overcoming its immense energy and lingering will. 32
- Soul Skills are the established techniques released through a Martial Soul, ranging from physical enhancement and elemental attacks to healing, control, and support. 125
- A Soul Master may also use a Martial Soul Avatar, manifesting or partially embodying their Martial Soul for greater combat ability. 2 158 262
Self-Condensed Soul Rings
Zhang Bufan demonstrated that a Soul Ring need not always be hunted from a Soul Beast. Upon reaching Level 90, he condensed a ninth Soul Ring from his Chaos Soul Power and Heaven-and-Earth Energy. The resulting Chaos-colored ring was described by him as equivalent to a Million-Year Soul Ring. 222 223
The ring granted two documented abilities:
- Chaos Domain — Creates a domain in which Zhang can alter Rules to a limited extent, including weakening enemy Soul Skills, enhancing allied effects, altering gravity, distorting light, and changing material properties temporarily. Its effects depend on his Soul Power output and understanding of Laws. 223 224
- Chaos Return to Origin — A second ability granted by the Chaos-colored Soul Ring; its specific effects are not described in the available account. 223 224
Martial Soul Science
Bufan Academy’s teachings challenge the conventional understanding that Martial Souls, Soul Rings, and fixed Soul Skills are the only path to power.
Li Qingfeng’s theory describes a Martial Soul as an “interface” or mark within the soul that connects a Soul Master to omnipresent Heaven-and-Earth Elemental Energy or Rule Energy. Soul Power is the usable form of that energy after conversion through the Martial Soul. 108
Zhang Bufan further teaches that:
- A Martial Soul is a specific method for applying Soul Power to the world. 118
- Soul Skills are fixed routines, output formulas, or efficiency programs for that energy. 118 125
- Soul Rings function as energy amplifiers, skill-unlock keys, and stabilizers for Rules. 108 118 125
- Soul Power follows conservation principles: it is transformed and transferred through eating, meditation, and Soul Skill release rather than appearing from nothing. 119
- Greater understanding of a Martial Soul’s energy pathways and “nodes” can optimize a Soul Skill’s effect while reducing its consumption. Xing Hui successfully improved his Star Pattern Enhancement through this approach. 126
The academy’s long-term goal is to enable Soul Masters to optimize existing skills, develop self-created techniques, and explore possibilities beyond the apparent limits of Martial Soul quality and Innate Soul Power. 125 129
Notable Manifestations
- Nine Cauldrons of Huaxia — Zhang Bufan’s bronze cauldron Martial Soul. Initially recorded as unknown, it was later identified as one of the legendary Nine Cauldrons and classified as a Divine Artifact Martial Soul. Nine ancient cauldron phantoms manifest when he invokes it fully. 2 3 11 176
- Shadow Leopard — Shi Tie’s top-tier beast Martial Soul. Despite only Level 3 Innate Soul Power, it grants latent ferocity, explosive physical potential, and a resilient physique. 117 127
- Star Pattern Brush — Xing Hui’s mutated support-type Martial Soul. It draws temporary Star Patterns that can enhance an ally’s speed, strength, or Soul Power concentration, though its duration is limited and consumption is high. 117
- Ice Crystal — Leng Ning’s Martial Soul, which allows highly refined control over cold and ice. Her mastery eventually develops into a talent domain that slows opponents and increases their Soul Power consumption. 118 156
- Healing System Flower — Yue Ling’er’s suspected top-tier Healing System Martial Soul. Its exceptional life force enabled her to survive severe injuries and harmonizes closely with Tai Chi practice. 60 78
Martial Soul Hall
Martial Soul Hall is the organization responsible for conducting public Martial Soul Awakening ceremonies, testing Soul Power, issuing Soul Master badges, and recruiting promising awakened children. 1 2 4
The institution is distinct from the Martial Soul itself: the former is a continent-spanning organization, while the latter is the innate power possessed and wielded by Soul Masters.
