While Zhou Xu was snoring away from exhaustion, a group of figures was using the cover of night to creep cautiously toward the border outside the southern frontier of Great Zhou.
Just then, no one knew what had happened, but their bodies suddenly stiffened. A series of heavy thuds rang out as they crashed to the ground, and in the blink of an eye, they were sprawled across the earth.
Under the pitch-black night sky, the sight carried an indescribable eeriness.
After some time had passed, once they had confirmed that the fallen figures were thoroughly dead, the nearby scene began to twist visibly.
Then, one by one, green figures slowly emerged. They had long, slender limbs and a pair of outrageously bulging eyeballs that hung there like two giant lightbulbs. They were none other than the Chameleon Lurkers.
The Chameleon Lurkers had fragile bodies and poor mobility. Their only advantage was their ability to mimic their surroundings. With that ability, they could achieve a degree of "invisibility."
However, this "invisibility" basically exposed them the moment they moved. To remain "invisible," they had to keep their bodies completely still.
The Chameleon Lurkers lacked mobility—in fact, they could even be said to lack the ability to move. Even as assassination units, they were not particularly useful, let alone on a battlefield where troops clashed head-on.
As hidden sentries used for surveillance, however, they could perform quite effectively.
Unaware enemies would sneak closer, thinking they had not been discovered. Little did they know that every move they made had already been watched by the "invisible" Chameleon Lurkers.
That was their advantage!
Soros had deployed quite a few of them all along the southern frontier.
Now, the value of that deployment had undoubtedly been proven.
Before approaching the target corpses, the Chameleon Lurkers
