Background / History
Elder Kellan identified the Lizardmen as a race older than the Elves, describing them as servants of an Old God who guarded its Temple and fought in its name. Later accounts identify Dragon God Xilan as their creator: after the Dragonkin proved too few in number, Xilan created the more fertile Lizardmen from the Dragonkin template. 293 1488
The Lizardmen inhabited a vast tropical rainforest and maintained a Temple inherited from the Old Civilization. Their forces entered Great Zhou's region through energy channels, using Raptor Cavalry, Giant Lizards, Wyvern Riders, and infantry to invade the grasslands. Their main force eventually destroyed the Elf Village before withdrawing from the cold, which was poorly suited to their tropical physiology. 317 336
For generations, the Lizardmen and Ratmen remained mortal enemies, repeatedly fighting without either side being able to eliminate the other. This conflict forced the Lizardmen to divide their attention between the southern battlefield, the Centaurs, and Great Zhou. 417 455 548
Great Zhou ultimately entered the Lizardmen's homeland, captured the Temple, and gained the Dragon Lord class. When the retreating Lizardmen returned to reclaim the Temple, Zhou Xu's Dragon Lord aura compelled nearly all of them—including Soros—to kneel in instinctive worship. The tribe subsequently submitted to Great Zhou. 515 519 520
After their incorporation, the Lizardmen became one of Great Zhou's largest populations. Their confirmed population stood at 6,732 after the early wars, later surpassing 10,000 during peacetime growth. 563 642
Appearance
Lizardmen are upright reptilian humanoids whose natural scales function as protective armor. Their appearance and battlefield role differ sharply between the Blue and Green Lizard groups. 461
- Blue Lizardmen / Soruk — Large, powerfully built Lizardmen with hard blue scales and white horns on the nose, forehead, and shoulders. 300
- Green Lizardmen / Baltu — Smaller, slender Lizardmen with fine green scales and fin-like organs on their heads and backs. 307
- Special individuals — Half-Dragon People stand apart from ordinary Lizardmen through more pronounced dragon bloodlines, often unusual scale coloration, larger bodies, and superior strength. 405 520
- High Priest Bolevin — A notably large Half-Dragon Person with dark-red scales; he was over two meters tall even before evolving into a Dragon Person. 520 1504
Physiology & Life Cycle
- Their natural scales provide substantial defense and survivability, giving even ordinary Lizardmen a major physical advantage over unarmored Humans. 461 547
- Both Lizardmen and Ratmen possess night vision; Lizardmen adapted their early invasion by traveling at night and resting during the day. 324 959
- They are highly suited to tropical rainforest conditions. Green Lizard Infantry are especially agile and difficult to track or intercept in dense vegetation. 482 484
- Cold climates cause severe acclimatization problems, including vomiting, diarrhea, illness, and reduced combat performance; warm clothing and gradual adaptation mitigate this weakness. 582 954
- Ordinary Lizardmen reach adulthood at six years old and have a natural lifespan of roughly sixty years. 523 1808
- Blue Lizardmen lay two to three eggs per clutch, while Green Lizardmen lay four to six; both have an incubation period of about ten months. 523
- The Sacred Hatchery protects their eggs and greatly improves incubation stability, contributing to their rapid population growth. 517 523
Abilities & Skills
Natural Combat Physique
Lizardmen possess superior baseline strength, speed, and resilience compared with ordinary Humans.
- Their scales act as natural Scale Armor and can stop attacks that would otherwise be lethal. 461
- Blue Lizardmen are the sturdier frontline fighters, while Green Lizardmen are faster and more agile. 465 547
- Their physical advantages were weakened after the loss of the Dragon God's blessings, then partially restored through Zhou Xu's Dragon Lord projects. 515 535
Dragon Blood Evolution
Lizardmen can evolve into Dragonkin through exposure to Dragon Blood.
- The process is possible because Lizardmen were created using the Dragonkin template and retain greater Dragon Blood compatibility than other races. 521
- Dragon Blood is dangerous and resource-intensive; incompatible recipients can die during assimilation. 521
- Half-Dragon People are generally stronger and longer-lived than ordinary Lizardmen. 523 1808
- Great Zhou later restricted bloodline purification to enlisted soldiers because Half-Dragon People reproduce far less efficiently than ordinary Lizardmen. 1808
Priesthood and Telekinesis
The Green Lizard Priests and High Priest possess supernatural abilities tied to the Temple and former Dragon God's power.
- The High Priest could open or accelerate energy channels before the loss of the Dragon God's blessings. 428 525
- Bolevin used telekinetic force to immobilize and lift Qian Sui into the air. 504
- Ordinary Green Lizard Priests can later use weaker telekinesis for manual work, moving rubble piece by piece. 1081
- The Lizardmen High Priest profession and Green Lizard Priest profession are distinct Dragon Lord unit projects. 525 963
Rainforest Warfare
The Lizardmen developed tactics built around the terrain of their homeland.
- Green Lizard Infantry conduct ambushes, flanking maneuvers, javelin volleys, and guerrilla warfare from dense cover. 482 500
- Blue Lizard Sword and Shield Soldiers follow behind Green Lizard skirmishers to force decisive melee engagements. 465 484
- Their classic later formation uses Blue Lizard Spearmen in the center, Raptor Cavalry on both wings, and Green Lizard Short Spear Soldiers around the perimeter. 959
- Green Lizard Short Spear Soldiers specialize in harassment: retreating from advances, pursuing retreats, and avoiding direct clashes. 835
Military Units
| Unit | Role | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Blue Lizard Sword and Shield Soldiers | Heavy infantry | Core melee troops equipped with shields and swords; their natural scales further improve their defensive value. 465 589 |
| Blue Lizard Spearmen | Formation infantry | Use Crystal Iron spears in spear formations and phalanx-style advances against Rat Tides. 556 1083 |
| Green Lizard Infantry | Skirmishers and javelin troops | Agile infantry armed with poison-quenched short spears or javelins; excel in flanking, ambushes, and rainforest warfare. 438 482 |
| Green Lizard Short Spear Soldiers | Flank support | The most numerous Lizardman infantry; support spear formations and fight effectively once battles become disordered. 589 |
| Raptor Cavalry | Mobile flanking force | Uses Raptors for reconnaissance, pursuit, and wing support, but the mounts have limited stamina. 323 959 |
| Wyvern Riders | Aerial reconnaissance | Provide long-range scouting and battlefield observation from the air. 317 444 |
| Blue Lizard Guards / Temple Guards | Elite guards | Blue Lizard Sword and Shield Soldiers assigned to guard the Temple and High Priest. 500 520 |
| Dragon Blood Warrior Regiment | Half-Dragon Person elite unit | A 500-member Southern Garrison regiment led by the Dragon Person Tash; trained for mounted and ground combat. 1578 |
Equipment, Mounts & Resources
- Crystal weapons — Sharp but originally poor in overall performance because Sharp Crystal was used as the primary material rather than as an auxiliary component. 524
- Crystal Iron weapons — Great Zhou-produced weapons, including spears, that significantly improved Lizardman battlefield performance. 556 579
- Scale Armor — Standard armor supplementing the Lizardmen's natural scales. 470 579
- Poison-quenched short spears — Green Lizard Infantry weapons used in dense javelin volleys and ambushes. 438
- Raptors — Carnivorous mounts used by cavalry; agile but prone to rapid stamina depletion during sustained operations. 306 323
- Giant Lizards — Large transport and battle beasts with limited intelligence; their behavior can be influenced through Bone Whistles. 318 548
- Shield Dragons — Durable creatures used to draw enemy attacks and protect advancing Lizardmen formations. 468 556
- Wyverns — Flying mounts used by Wyvern Riders for aerial scouting. 317
Society & Religion
The Temple was the spiritual and political center of the Lizardmen tribe. It was regarded as sacred enough that even the High Priest entered on foot, while Temple Guards controlled access. 401
The High Priest held exceptional authority as the former spokesperson of the Dragon God. Beneath him were commanders such as Soros and Gruul, specialist priests, Temple Guards, and the broader Blue and Green Lizard populations. 401 568
After Zhou Xu became Dragon Lord, the Lizardmen's worship shifted to him through a bloodline-level instinct. Their loyalty became a defining strength of their integration into Great Zhou, as disobedience risked the loss of the buffs they received through him. 519 564 611
Green Lizardmen perform much of the tribe's flexible work: crafting, polishing weapons, farming, and other labor requiring dexterity. 527 583
Relationships
- Zhou Xu — Great Zhou's ruler and the Lizardmen's Dragon Lord; his aura compelled their submission, and his projects now strengthen their race. 519 520 535
- Dragon God Xilan — Their creator and former source of blessings; the loss of Xilan's consciousness caused a severe decline in their power. 515 1488
- Soros — Prominent Lizardman commander and Half-Dragon Person who led forces against Great Zhou before becoming one of Zhou Xu's principal Lizardman subordinates. 419 521 548
- Bolevin — Former High Priest and Half-Dragon Person; initially retained enough dragon blood to resist kneeling, then accepted Zhou Xu as his deity. 520 521
- Ratmen — Ancient mortal enemies whose wars with the Lizardmen date back to the Old Civilization era. 455 548
- Centaurs — Longtime regional rivals and occasional negotiating partners; the Lizardmen attempted to ambush the migrating Centaurs despite proposing peace. 428 433
- Grassland Elves — Early enemies after the Lizardmen invaded the grasslands and destroyed the Elf Village. 336 526
