Background / History

Nuwa and her elder brother Fuxi reside at Phoenix Perch Mountain. Although Luo Qing perceives their innate foundations as Lesser Yin and Lesser Yang, neither follows the corresponding Dao: Nuwa first pursues the Earth Dao and later the Creation Dao 140. Her early rivalry with Houtu centers on an earth-attribute treasure. Nuwa insists on contesting it without Fuxi’s help, but Houtu ultimately wins 82 88.

The siblings join the Demon Court as Empress Wa and Emperor Xi. Nuwa backs Di Jun’s consolidation of power so she can draw on the Court’s growing fortune to raise her cultivation and pursue sainthood. She nevertheless worries that Fuxi’s work for the Demon Race will entangle him too deeply in its conflicts 248 288 343.

After helping deliver Chang Xi’s ten Golden Crow Divine Eggs, Nuwa turns to creating life as the means of perfecting her Creation Dao. She experiments in a Small World, then claims the Nine Heavens Breath Bag that Luo Qing had promised her years earlier. Luo Qing gives it to her outright and directs her to Fairy Xihua, who supplies Three Lights Divine Water. Nuwa leaves Fuxi at the Heavenly Court and travels alone to study living races 357 361.

In the Southern Domain, Nuwa observes the endangered Five Colors Human Race. She spends thousands of years studying its members’ fear, attachment, and struggle for survival, even joining the tribe through an avatar. After its extinction, she uses its bloodline as the blueprint for a new race defined by emotion. She creates more than ten thousand human figures and brings the Human Race into being at Shouyang Mountain, leaving strengthened humans to protect the others while she faces her tribulation 369 372 373 374.

Upon attaining sainthood, Nuwa establishes her Sage Dao Field at Phoenix Perch Mountain rather than returning to the Heavenly Court. She initially seeks distance from the Demon Race, though the prohibition on Sages personally intervening in worldly affairs makes allies below Sage level valuable to her. After the Demon Court’s collapse, she establishes the Demon Cult to shelter its surviving race 377 379 463.

Nuwa later guides the Phoenix Perch World’s ascension into a Cosmic World. The process yields two strands of Primordial Violet Qi; she offers one to Fuxi for his path to sainthood 599 621 622.

Appearance

Nuwa’s revealed Sacred Body has a human head and a serpentine tail. Unlike Houtu’s Ancestral Witch form, her upper body appears almost entirely human 82.

Personality

Nuwa is proud and competitive: she sets Fuxi aside to face Houtu fairly, and Luo Qing recognizes the same determination in both goddesses 88. She is also calculating about cultivation and political power, supporting Di Jun when a stronger Heavenly Court can advance her own path while later withholding information that might let him surpass her 288 391.

Her loyalties are selective. She repeatedly works to secure Fuxi’s future and protects her disciples, but she is prepared to distance herself from the Demon Court or accept either outcome of its war with the Witch Clan 343 391 427 431. Her study of the Five Colors Humans gives her direct insight into the emotions of vulnerable beings, which becomes central to her Creation Dao 372 373.
