  • Yuzhou spans at least 100,000 li in every direction; even this vast land is described as only a small part of the wider world 409.
  • A True Essence Ninth Layer cultivator would require more than ten years to fly from Yuzhou’s south to north without a Teleportation Array 874.
  • The Cloud Water Mountain Range, the Cloud Water Sect’s reserved territory, covers at least 30 million square kilometers and is still only one corner of Yuzhou 409.

  • Yin Feng Valley is a semi-public resource region near Yin Feng City. Rogue cultivators and sect disciples may enter after paying a five-Spirit-Stone toll, accepting all risks and gains themselves 143.
  • The South Sea is a comparatively small peripheral region relative to the continent, but it became a refuge during the later demonic disaster 760 1238.

History

Period Event
Ancient era Yuzhou and Haizhou were originally part of the Nine Continents Continent before an ancient upheaval severed them from it. The isolated lands became known as the Lost Land or Ancient Yuzhou 921 1221.
10,000–20,000 years ago The Ancient Five Elements Sect, originally based in Yuzhou, split after drastic changes to heaven and earth and the loss of access to the Upper Realm. The branch that remained later divided into five sect lineages 1267.
About 1,000 years ago Huangtian Cult released an Abyssal Demon General from the Wild Heaven Realm, causing a continent-wide calamity. Huangtian Cult and the Thick Earth Sect fell; the damaged Mystic Water Lineage was absorbed into the Cloud Water Sect, enabling the latter’s rise 1268.
Pre-Mo Calamity era The Cloud Water Sect was recognized as Yuzhou’s hegemon, though powerful forces such as the Golden Extremity Sect continued to challenge its position 449 718.
Roughly a century before Zhang Qingyuan’s return A massive earthquake struck both Yuzhou and Haizhou. Void rifts began releasing Magic Beasts and Abyssal Demons, triggering a widespread calamity 1237.
Mo Calamity The Five Elements Realm became a demon’s den, releasing large numbers of Abyssal Demons. Yuzhou’s surviving powers formed the Dao Alliance to resist them 1317.
After the final battle The Abyssal Demon King was slain and the source of the calamity severed. Most of the Magic Beast army was destroyed, allowing cultivators to reclaim former settlements 1335.
Fifty years later Yuzhou remained sparsely populated but was rebuilding rapidly. Human cultivators increasingly clashed with proliferating Demonic Beasts in unreclaimed wilderness 1346.

Mo Calamity and Recovery

The earthquake affecting Yuzhou and Haizhou shattered land, opened fissures, and was followed by void rifts that released mindless Magic Beasts hungry for spiritual energy. Major and minor sects alike were destroyed during the initial beast tides, while Abyssal Demons deepened the crisis 1237.

The final campaign ended when the Abyssal Demon King gathered much of its army and was slain. With the demonic source cut off and more than half of the immense Magic Beast tide eliminated, regions once considered certain death zones became reclaimable 1335.

Fifty years after the disaster, Yuzhou’s population had not recovered, but its surviving cultivators had restored settlements and expanded into abandoned lands. The Cloud Water Sect’s influence grew dramatically, supported by its role in ending the calamity 1346.
