Lu Yang raised his arm and found that his skin was twitching slightly against his will. His whole body felt tingly and numb.
"Who's playing tricks?" roared the white-haired ascetic, gripping his battle blade. His voice rang out in every direction.
There was no reply. This stretch of sea was eerily still. Even though the waves surged, they made no sound, and there wasn't even a hint of wind.
"Look over there." Little White Whale, sharp-eyed, pointed to the group's front left.
Following his gesture, Bai Yang and the others spotted an island on the sea. It was only a hundred-odd kilometers across, bare of any plants and bleak with deathly stillness.
At the island's edge, on a cliff thousands of meters high, someone sat holding a fishing rod, watching the sea with rapt attention as he fished.
Bai Yang and the others had excellent eyesight. Though they were more than a thousand miles away, they could still make out the man.
He looked to be in his forties, dressed in a gray robe and holding a white fishing rod. Its line dropped thousands of meters down the cliff and into the sea as he fished intently, seemingly undisturbed by anything around him.
"I can't quite see through him. I don't know if he's human or a sea-dwelling foreign race in human form. Could he be behind this strange stillness?" Jiang Nan said with a frown, looking that way.
Though they were a thousand miles away, the gray-robed man seemed to sense Bai Yang and the
