Background / History

Born as Jiang Xiaoyue into the Jiang Family, she was already Su Hetu's beloved childhood companion. At nineteen, when the Jiang Family's ancestral deity refused to help Su Hetu contend for the throne, she seized the family's mirror, killed the deity within it, declared herself the new Deity Master, and adopted the name Jiang Hongyue. 174

Su Hetu eventually became Emperor Tianbao, and Jiang Hongyue became his Empress. Although she initially accepted his other consorts, she discovered that Su Hetu had secretly given her medicine that prevented pregnancy. The betrayal alienated her from him and enabled Consort Xiao's family to rise against the Jiang Family's influence. 174

During a secret southern journey to visit relatives, Jiang Hongyue was received by officials and martial families across Nanzhou and Nanyang. Her rewards to the Tang Family Fortress, Shen Family, and two other families helped establish them as Demon Suppressing Families. She also took in the beggar who would become Goddess Hong Deng. 140

When Emperor Tianbao became trapped in Dayin Mountain, Jiang Hongyue went there to rescue him. She instead became entangled with the Twin Demon and carried a demon fetus—its twin—which intended to use her womb for corpse dissolution and ascension. After being betrayed, falsely accused, and driven into despair, she used her Mirror power to open the Yellow Springs Road and prevent the demon fetus from completing its final reincarnation. 175

Unable to accept death, Jiang Hongyue created the Shore Flower Curse, placing it upon Ghost Bones and cultivating Ghost Infants to find a bearer capable of guiding her back to the living world. For roughly a century, she communicated with Goddess Hong Deng through dreams and directed her actions from beyond death. 139

Chen Mo and Nangong Ye completed the Human-Dragon Sacrifice at Jiang Hongyue's coffin, enabling her return. She initially clung invisibly to Chen Mo's back, draining his qi, blood, and soul until he entered the Red Moon Palace and awakened her maternal fixation on him. 177 183
