Night had yet to fall.

Ian still had many things to do.

He had no idea that the naturally cunning Dumbledore had managed to kill two birds with one stone. Seeing that the library was about to close, he sprinted toward it so fast it was like his legs were about to smoke.

"Is someone chasing him?"

"Dunno... He looks like he needs to take a dump but can't find a toilet."

"Oh, oh, I get it. I've been in that situation too. Trust me, never gamble on it being just a fart. Hey, don't leave! Didn't you say you weren't going back to the dorm tonight?"

A seventh year couple who had been getting lovey-dovey lost all interest after Ian ran past. Ian might not have gained +1 virtue, but he had certainly prevented an activity that could have increased Earth's population by one.

There were never many people in the library during the day, much less after classes ended and night drew near. Yet despite running with all his might, Ian still failed to beat the library's closing time.

He had not even caught Madam Pince turning off the final light. All Ian saw was a tightly shut door and a brand-new lock that appeared to have been installed recently.

"Madam Pince definitely left work early!"

Ian indignantly checked the time. It had only just reached closing time; at most, it was perhaps a minute past.

Sure enough.

Jobs without competition were always this lax!

"Ah, this hurts. I want to cry."

Ian had no chance to use his bribery tactics to make Madam Pince stay a little longer. He had not even caught sight of her, so he could only glance around before pulling out his wand.

"Alohomora!"

Ian merely wanted to experience a Hogwarts tradition.
