Background / History
Dumbledore’s youth was defined by his family, his friendship with Gellert Grindelwald, and the death of his sister Ariana. He and Grindelwald made a Blood Pact that prevented them from harming one another, delaying Dumbledore’s opposition to Grindelwald’s rise. After Ariana’s death, Dumbledore returned to Hogwarts and obsessively studied magic, curses, souls, death, and the Deathly Hallows in search of what he had lost. 87 88
When the Blood Pact eventually shattered, Dumbledore dueled and defeated Grindelwald, acquiring the Elder Wand. His victory did not resolve his guilt or his fixation on death, but he gradually committed himself to Hogwarts and its students. 88
By Ian Prince’s first year, Dumbledore is Hogwarts’ headmaster and one of the Wizarding World’s foremost scholars. His office contains extensive magical research, forbidden works, and journals carrying a remarkable volume of his own published research. 87 131
Appearance
Dumbledore is an elderly wizard with long silver-white hair and beard, bright blue eyes behind half-moon spectacles, and a composed, reassuring presence. He is commonly seen in star-covered purple robes, though he also wears dark blue robes during his journey beyond the Bronze Door. 2 119 285 327
- Long silver-white beard and hair. 2 285

- Purple robes decorated with silver stars. 119
- In his youth, he had reddish-brown hair, a neat Hogwarts uniform, and an exceptionally confident bearing. 187
- When empowered by Ian’s deity-infused light, silver runes appear across his body and his physique becomes dramatically enhanced. 249
Personality
Dumbledore presents himself as patient, gentle, and quietly humorous. He explains magic carefully to children, reassures frightened staff, and is willing to listen before acting. His presence alone gives Hogwarts’ professors and students a strong sense of security. 2 120 236 328
He is also deeply regretful about his past. He rejects the belief that powerful wizards have the right to dictate other people’s lives, considering both himself and Snape failures when they try to control another’s path. Rather than excuse his history, he openly shows Ian the most shameful parts of it. 16 88
Beneath his benevolence, Dumbledore is calculating and capable of ruthless decisions. He uses Marcus Flint as bait, arranges layered traps for Voldemort through time travel, and alters both his own and Nick LeMay’s memories to protect Merlin’s secret. 81 144 240

- Fawkes’ tears suppress the black Trace mark on Dumbledore’s chest. 250
- His Legendary Status allows him to pass through dangers that would overwhelm ordinary wizards. 327
Condition and Secrets
Dumbledore bears a painful black Trace mark on his chest. When activated, black symbols resembling Deathly Hallows imagery emerge, his shadow becomes jagged and tentacled, and the condition causes severe pain. 249 250
- Silver runes across his body act as old protective measures and can amplify his magical power when triggered. 249
- The black Trace is suppressed by Fawkes’ tears. 250

Story Role / Major Arcs
Recruitment of Ian Prince
Dumbledore personally visits Wu’s Orphanage to tell Ian that he is a wizard and invite him to Hogwarts. He reassures Ian that financial aid is available, uses magic to keep Elena from hearing their private conversation, and gently warns Ian through the example of a former orphanage student who “lost his way.” 2
Fiendfyre and the Murder Investigation
Following Professor Ronnie Erich’s death, Dumbledore examines Ian’s abnormal wand, dismisses Marcus Flint’s accusation of murder, and reveals that he knows Ian can cast Fiendfyre. He later takes the Imperius-controlled Flint away to use him as bait against the true culprit. 79 81
Revelation of His Past
Dumbledore allows Ian to witness his memories of Grindelwald, Ariana, his search for the Deathly Hallows, and his studies into death and dark magic. He does not defend his past, instead treating the memories as a warning and a lesson. 87 88
Voldemort Trap and Time-Turner Scheme
After Voldemort’s Remnant Soul appears near Hogwarts, Dumbledore secures the grounds, seeks the Resurrection Stone from Ian, and later reveals that he has been manipulating events with a Time-Turner to lure Voldemort into a trap. Multiple Dumbledores operate simultaneously as part of the plan. 120 121 142 144
Merlin and Legendary Ascension
Dumbledore and Nick LeMay confront Merlin after he reveals himself. Dumbledore uses Merlin’s desires and vulnerabilities to create an opening for Ian, then chooses conditional trust over immediate hostility. By Ian’s return from the past, Dumbledore has reached Legendary Status himself. 239 240 236
The Bronze Door
Dumbledore enters the Bronze Door to rescue Ian, leaving Snape and Hermione behind. Beyond it, he fights another version of himself, confronts painful memories and tempting alternate lives, and ultimately continues onward rather than surrender to regret. 295 304 305
Search Through the Ancient Era
After emerging in an ancient era, Dumbledore tracks Ian’s magical traces across an unfamiliar island. He meets Xiaoya and Odin, patiently explains the nature of magic, and guides both children through their first spellcasting attempts. 327 328
