When Voldemort's true body appeared at the Ministry of Magic, Jon and Laura encountered a similar presence within Mrs. Longbottom's consciousness.

It was not Voldemort's true body, but rather Voldemort as he had been at the height of his power.

This was the projection Voldemort had left deep within Mrs. Longbottom's heart all those years ago.

Or rather, projection was not quite the right word. This was the psychological trauma Voldemort had left behind in Mrs. Longbottom.

The strength of such trauma depended on the victim's impression of their tormentor, and clearly, in this environment, Voldemort was incredibly powerful.

"So this is still a bit troublesome." Watching the Death Eaters constantly gathering before him get slaughtered by killing magic, Jon did not feel comfortable at all. "This feels strange, like a swarm of ants rushing at you. They can't bite you to death, but it's disgusting."

He had wanted to challenge the Voldemort hidden behind the ranks directly, but unfortunately, that was not how things worked here.

Because this was the impression the Death Eaters and Voldemort had left upon Mrs. Longbottom.

It was a headache.

But Jon still had a way to solve this: create an even more powerful image. Fortunately, though he had not split off much soul power, his own strength was more than sufficient. That strength manifested in many ways. For example, the power he had divided off was roughly equal to Mrs. Longbottom's power at her peak. This meant that even within the soul, he could raise himself to Voldemort's level.

It did not matter how powerful Voldemort was in Mrs. Longbottom's mind.

Bound by the rules, Jon could only be as powerful as Voldemort, but he still had someone beside him.
