2020 was the saddest year of my life.

It began with failing the postgraduate entrance examination. I stayed at home for a year, busy preparing for graduation in the first half and busy with World War II in the second half, along with work-related matters. (Honestly, there really wasn't much to be happy about.)

At the beginning of December, I quit my job. It couldn't really be called a proper job; at most, it was a long-term internship. The small company had just made it through its startup phase, and every day felt like being fried in oil. I couldn't keep living like that, so I left directly.

I had originally wanted to write this book well, but I failed to do that too. It wasn't exciting or good to read, the plot dragged on, things weren't explained clearly enough, and there were probably many issues with the setting. But there was no way to revise it now.

After finishing the postgraduate exam, I only had a brief half-month. These past two days, I'd been writing seven or eight chapters a day, just so I could write more of the story and finish it as soon as possible.

I really felt awful. Never before had I felt so much like a piece of trash. Before long, I'd have to start looking for work again. As an engineering graduate from a non-elite university, what good job could I possibly find?

Fine. It was just a false proposition.

And so 2020 passed. Next year might not be much better either. After all, I'd already been going downhill since 2013.

I always felt that I didn't deserve it. Perhaps that really was the case. Being a failure wasn't hard, but failing as badly as I had wasn't easy either. People always compromise with
