Background / History

The Heavenly Screen presents Yu Yuanzhen as the head of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan in both the Black World and White World, with his treatment of his sons forming one of the clearest contrasts between the two worlds. 1 2

Black World

In the Black World, Yu Yuanzhen is the father of Yu Xiaogang. Xiaogang's martial-soul awakening yields only half a rank of innate Soul Power, turning a ceremony attended by major sects into a humiliation for the clan. Yu Yuanzhen ultimately orders guards to remove his hysterical son from the ceremony. 3 4

He continues to provide Xiaogang with vast quantities of medicinal resources despite the elders' objections, hoping to force a breakthrough through investment. The effort fails to change Xiaogang's poor cultivation prospects, deepening both the clan's dissatisfaction and Yu Yuanzhen's regret. 20

Yu Yuanzhen personally leads heavily protected Soul Beast hunts for Xiaogang's Soul Rings, including a hunt supported by three Soul Douluo for a 600-year Poison Mist Dragon Python. Xiaogang's resulting “hypnotic fart” Soul Skill devastates Yu Yuanzhen's remaining hopes for his son's cultivation. 67 69

After Yu Luomian spreads news of Xiaogang's humiliating second Soul Skill despite a gag order, Xiaogang leaves the clan. Yu Yuanzhen is left grieving both his son's departure and his own inability to protect him within the family. 69

White World

The White World's Yu Yuanzhen has two sons, Yu Xiaotian and Yu Xiaogang. Although he initially proposes using the less-talented Xiaogang to test Yu Xiaotian's Martial Soul evolution plan, Yu Xiaotian refuses to endanger his younger brother. 9

He places absolute faith in Yu Xiaotian's three-year pledge to develop the Three-Eyed Demon Martial Soul. When Yu Luomian objects to Yu Xiaotian's use of Whale Rubber, Yu Yuanzhen overwhelms him with Super Douluo pressure and declares that all resources Xiaotian requests during the agreement will be granted. 13

As Xiaotian's strength, political judgment, and leadership become clear, Yu Yuanzhen begins grooming him as the clan's successor. He later recognizes that the clan's future depends not only on a single powerful successor, but also on cultivating its younger generation and strengthening the clan as a whole. 28 97 101

Personality

Yu Yuanzhen is fiercely family-oriented, but his paternal instincts take sharply different forms across the parallel worlds. His Black World counterpart is indulgent and desperate, repeatedly pouring resources into Yu Xiaogang even when the cost to the clan is severe. The White World's Yu Yuanzhen is more decisive and authoritarian. He does not tolerate challenges to his authority, publicly crushing Yu Luomian's opposition to Yu Xiaotian and treating his approval as the clan's final word. 13
