In the back room of the Myriad Things Come shop, Yang Ning was curled up on a soft Simmons mattress, tightly wrapped in a quilt. Although his Physique had already been raised to 15 points, the severe abdominal pain from the poison's onset greatly depleted his stamina and energy. Coupled with getting rained on and soaked, the series of ordeals had ultimately caused him to develop a low fever.
After returning to his lodgings, he quickly took a hot shower, swallowed a ibuprofen capsule, and then collapsed onto the bed, intending to get some rest early. Not long after, his steady snores filled the room.
In his sleep, those familiar red eyes reappeared…
"May I ask why the young lady has come to Black Wind Ridge?"
An Han glanced coldly at Yang Ning. "What business is it of yours?"
Yang Ning shrugged. "The sandstorm outside isn't going to stop anytime soon. Why not sit down and chat for a while?"
An Han gazed at the wind and sand in the distance, sighing inwardly. She ultimately sat down.
After a long silence, An Han suddenly turned to Yang Ning. "Do you know about Star Sea Flower?"
Yang Ning recalled the ancient texts he had seen in the camp. "I do. I've heard it can bring the dead back to life and heal bones."
An Han stared at Yang Ning. "You have extraordinary skills. The sandstorm suddenly erupted just now; you must have unleashed your bloodline power to enter this cave, right? Help me collect the Star Sea Flower, and you can name your price."
"That Star Sea Flower grows at the bottom of Black Wind Cliff, and the Starlight River flowing beneath the cliff can corrode bone. You've really got it all figured out, haven't you? Even if I wanted to name my price, I probably wouldn't live to enjoy it," Yang Ning said with a wry smile, shaking his head.
Hearing Yang Ning's words, An Han fell silent. Her mother was critically injured, and her father, instead of seeking treatment, had begun preparing for the funeral.
Within the Demonic Cult, her aunts were now vying to take over, and those so-called "cheap brothers" were eyeing the position like jackals.
As the eldest young lady of the Demonic Cult, An Han had heard that the Star Sea Flower of Black Wind Ridge had the effect of reviving the dead and could save her mother, which was why she had ventured here alone.
"Unless… you agree to two conditions…" Yang Ning suddenly said.
An Han's body trembled slightly…
Just then, Yang Ning felt someone shaking him. He struggled to open one eye slit, and what greeted him was Qiao Bin's round face.
"You motherf—"
Yang Ning raised his hand to strike, but Qiao Bin quickly grabbed his wrist.
"Heh heh, Brother Ning, I'm truly sorry," Qiao Bin said with a fawning smile. "Our Hall Master requests your presence."
"Get lost, get lost, get lost! I'm not going!" Yang Ning pulled the quilt tighter and turned over.
"Brother Ning, you are an advisor to our Law Enforcement Hall…"
Yang Ning angrily kicked the quilt and cursed at them with his back turned, "I'm not going! I'm not going! What time is it? It's still raining outside.
You have no sense of boundaries, no manners at all. When I provided crucial intelligence, not a single 'thank you.' You even almost used your pressure on me.
And the younger ones, I locked the door to my shop, and you still dared to pick the lock and barge in, disturbing someone's sleep.
The rot starts at the top. Do you really think I owe you something? Or do you really think I'm one of your Law Enforcement Hall disciples?
You've got no shame!"
Qiao Bin also chuckled awkwardly, then turned to the two disciples and put on a stern face. "Not a word of what was just said is to be repeated, or don't blame me for being harsh!"
These two disciples were Qiao Bin's trusted followers. They quickly chimed in, "Don't worry, don't worry. Senior Disciple Brother, we didn't hear anything."
Qiao Bin turned back, his smile returning. "Brother Ning, the rain had already stopped when we arrived. The air outside is lovely now."
Yang Ning ignored him and kicked the quilt again.
Qiao Bin was helpless. He didn't dare to keep Yun Zishan waiting, so he exchanged a look with the two disciples. The disciples understood and stepped forward, lifting Yang Ning up from the bed, one on each side.
"Qiao Bin, I'll f*** your mother!" Yang Ning struggled and writhed between the two disciples. "Let me down! Let me down!"
Qiao Bin quickly clasped his hands repeatedly in apology. "Brother Ning, after we've seen the Hall Master, I will personally apologize to you!" As he spoke, he directed the two disciples, "There's a lounge chair outside. Place the advisor on the lounge chair, and we'll head back to the hall immediately!"
"Understood! Senior Disciple Brother!"
On the way up the mountain, Yang Ning lay in the comfortable lounge chair, carried steadily by a disciple in front and one behind. Qiao Bin followed closely, jogging and pulling out a pack of Lanzhou from his waist. He took out a cigarette and respectfully offered it to Yang Ning with both hands.
"Brother Ning, please…"
Yang Ning glanced at the cigarette, feeling the lingering heat on his forehead, and waved his hand. "I'm not smoking."
Qiao Bin smiled sheepishly and stuffed the entire pack of cigarettes into Yang Ning's hand. "Brother Ning, don't worry. After we've seen our Hall Master, I'll personally carry you back."
By this time, the rain in Sword Sect had indeed stopped, replaced by gusts of chilling night wind. Yang Ning was only wearing a thin inner garment with a long robe over it. He couldn't help but pull his collar tighter.
Yang Ning looked at Qiao Bin's expression and knew he was having a difficult time too. He couldn't just refuse a friendly gesture.
"It seems I need to discuss with your Hall Master that if you find me this late at night, you must pay overtime!"
