Background

Taiyi and his elder brother Dijun were Innate Sacred Beings manifested from the Sun Star. The brothers founded the Solar God Palace, supported one another through their rise, and later established the Yao Race Heavenly Court together. Dijun considered Taiyi the only member of the Heavenly Court truly worthy of complete trust. 17 52

Taiyi was present at the Innate Gourd Vine alongside Dijun, Hongyun, and Zhenyuanzi. He appeared as a golden-robed Three-Legged Golden Crow with an aura more profound and ethereal than Dijun's; Lu Yuan associated this quality with the legend that Taiyi carried a fragment of Emperor Cangli's primal spirit and was born with the Chaos Bell. 17

When the Solar God Palace discovered the Heavenly Realm Ruins—the Thirty-Three Heavens—Taiyi and Dijun recognized them as the destined foundation for a new Heavenly Court. Taiyi embraced the plan to gather the Yao Race, establish heavenly authority, and complete the court's destiny. 26 27

After Dao Ancestor Hongjun approved the Heavenly Court's founding, Taiyi and Dijun accelerated the recruitment and transformation of living beings into the Yao Race. Taiyi urged decisive action against Kunpeng when the Northern Sea ruler rejected their invitation, arguing that Kunpeng's lineage was necessary for the court's complete fortune. 27

Taiyi is a tall, imposing man who commonly wears golden robes. His bearing combines imperial majesty with the aggressive aura of a warrior-emperor. 17

Taiyi is direct, combative, and impatient with opposition. He favors finishing matters decisively, advocated eliminating Kunpeng before he could become a threat, and later pressed for war against the Witch Race as the route to a Hunyuan breakthrough. 27 107

His confidence often borders on arrogance. During a Dao discussion, he openly acknowledged Taiqing's superiority while his conduct and strength provoked resentment from Yuanshi and Tongtian. 21 He reacts intensely to humiliation and challenge: he resented Tengshe's favored proposal, nearly attacked Kunlun in rage over Lu Yuan's rise, and displayed barely restrained killing intent when confronting enemies. 48 103

Despite this volatility, Taiyi is fiercely loyal to Dijun and the Golden Crow family. He defended the Yao Race's interests beside Dijun, saved the final Golden Crow prince from Houyi's arrow, and vowed vengeance after the deaths of the prince's brothers. 52 115

Taiyi supports the court's consolidation through force. Alongside Dijun and the Ten Great Demon Sages, he coerces Tengshe, Demon Sages, and Demon Gods into placing wisps of their true spirits in the Monster Summoning Banner. 68

War Against the Purple Mansion Immortal Court

As the Yao Race prepares to wage war on the Witch Race, Taiyi supports the broader plan to gather the Great Desolation's fortune by force. He also witnesses the disorder caused by the Golden Crow princes' uncontrolled True Sun Fire. 107

When Houyi kills nine princes, Taiyi arrives in time to save the youngest with the Chaos Bell. His grief and rage turn the Witch-Yao conflict into an irreconcilable blood feud. 115

Death in the Witch-Demon Calamity

During the final calamity, Taiyi battles four peak Ancestral Witches while nearing the Half-Saint Dao realm. Ru Shou, Zhurong, and Tian Wu self-destruct to grievously wound him and shatter the Chaos Bell. Taiyi responds by detonating his Half-Saint Dao Fruit and soul, killing Zhu Jiuyin alongside himself. 134

Rebirth in the Other Shore Universe
