Linley and Irina protected Harry from Ministry interference while Umbridge’s abuses brought them into conflict with her. They then went to the giants’ valley to warn Hagrid’s hosts against siding with the Death Eaters, where Linley killed Gogoma and the attacking giants, but Grop survived.

• Linley helped Harry win his hearing, then worked with Barty Crouch Sr. to oppose Fudge’s followers and prepared to recruit allies.
• Linley and Irina returned to Hogwarts, where Irina challenged Umbridge after she denied students practical defense lessons, and Umbridge later assigned Irina and Harry detention with a blood quill.

Linley and Irina rescued Sturgis Podmore from Azkaban, then helped organize students to learn practical defensive magic despite Umbridge’s ban. The D.A. Army began training in the Room of Requirement while Linley also taught Harry Occlumency and Fred and George Alchemy Formations.

• Linley and Irina captured a Dark wizard in France to take the blame for the giants’ deaths, and Dumbledore verified the man’s guilt before the Ministry took him away.
• At Dumbledore’s request, Linley and Irina fought their way past Azkaban’s Aurors and Dementors, rescued Sturgis Podmore, and collapsed the prison’s third floor.
