Background / History

Tang San was raised in Sacred Soul Village by his father, Tang Hao. Villagers described Tang Hao as habitually drunk and neglectful, leaving Tang San to cook, gather firewood, and manage daily life from a young age. His unusual maturity and ghostlike movement on the village back mountain were already noticed by the locals. 126

He enrolled at Nuoding Academy as a work-study student accompanied by Old Jack. Initially rejected by the gatekeeper because Blue Silver Grass paired with Innate Full Soul Power seemed implausible, he was admitted after Yu Xiaogang intervened and accepted him as a disciple. 28

Under Yu Xiaogang, Tang San obtained Entangle from a Mandala Snake and Parasitism from a Ghost Vine. Qian Renxue later judged this development path inferior to one based on powerful life-attribute plant Soul Beasts, and Tang San himself eventually began questioning Yu Xiaogang's competence. 28 29 58

Tang San joined Shrek Academy and formed the Shrek Seven Devils with its other students. His pharmacological and toxicological knowledge enabled him to treat Dugu Bo's Green Phosphorus Poison, earning Dugu Bo's friendship and access to the latter's Medicine Garden, whose rare herbs accelerated the Shrek members' cultivation. 6

After his identity as Tang Hao's son became known, Tang San was repeatedly pursued by Spirit Hall. In several simulated futures, he used the identity Tang Yin while associated with the Clear Sky Sect, developed Hidden Weapons for the Star Luo side, and became a central obstacle to the unification plans of Spirit Hall and Heaven Dou. 6 19

Appearance

Tang San is initially described as a boy in blue clothes with short black hair, a proportionate build, and ordinary features. Under the Tang Yin identity, he is regarded as notably handsome and talented. 18 113

  • Early appearance — Blue clothing, short black hair, and an otherwise unremarkable face. 113
  • Tang Yin identity — A handsome young Clear Sky Sect genius with Blue Silver Grass. 18
  • Sea God form — Magnificent blue armor, long blue hair, four pairs of blue wings, ten Soul Rings, and the Sea God Trident. 84
  • Asura God manifestation — Blood-red divine aura and a blood-colored greatsword. 85

Personality

Tang San is strongly protective of those close to him. Tang Hao repeatedly risks his life to secure Tang San's escape, while Tang San submits to Ye Luo's coercion rather than risk Xiao Wu and his father being harmed. 30 140

He is also resilient to an extraordinary degree. Even when ambushed by powerful opponents, deprived of opportunities, killed in simulated futures, or placed at a disadvantage against Ye Luo, he continues to escape, revive, or return with greater power. 10 59 85 128

His hostility toward Spirit Hall and Ye Luo becomes increasingly direct after Tang Hao's death and the theft of his Eight Spider Lances. As Sea God, he openly seeks revenge and moves to support the Star Luo Empire against the allied Heaven Dou–Spirit Hall forces. 157

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul

Tang San's primary Martial Soul is Blue Silver Grass. Its development is repeatedly contrasted with Ye Luo's Blue Silver Spirit Jade Emperor, whose bloodline pressure can force Tang San's Blue Silver Grass to wilt. 58 114

  • Entangle — Creates yellow-green vines that bind targets. 28 114
  • Parasitism — His second Soul Skill, derived from a Ghost Vine. 29
  • Blue crystal-like evolution — As Tang Yin, his Blue Silver Grass becomes exceptionally tough, grows rapidly, and can form a sharp spear. 19
  • LimitationYe Luo's superior Blue Silver bloodline can suppress the Martial Soul until it collapses limp to the ground. 114 119

Clear Sky Hammer

Tang San possesses the Clear Sky Hammer as his Second Martial Soul, confirming his connection to Tang Hao and the Clear Sky Sect. 19 119

  • He does not use it during his Soul King victory over several Soul Sages as Tang Yin. 19
  • Its exposure contributes to Spirit Hall's attempts to eliminate him. 119
  • Yu Xiaogang later seeks help concerning the danger of Tang San's Twin Martial Souls exploding. 146

Tang Sect Techniques and Hidden Weapons

Tang San creates Hidden Weapons capable of allowing low-level Soul Masters to kill stronger opponents by surprise. These weapons significantly bolster the Star Luo Empire and Clear Sky Sect-aligned forces during war. 1 19

  • Mysterious Heaven Skill — His core cultivation method. 140
  • Purple Demon Eye — Used when confronting Ye Luo at Shrek Academy. 114
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — A movement technique noted for Tang San's ghostlike speed. 126 140
  • Hidden Weapons — Sold through the Heaven Dou Auction House; the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect later contracts to purchase them. 119
  • LimitYe Luo's Diamond Glazed Body and poison immunity render Tang San's available Hidden Weapons and poisons ineffective. 140

Pharmacology and Toxicology

Tang San recognizes the source of Dugu Bo's Green Phosphorus Poison and successfully treats it, forming an unlikely friendship with the Poison Douluo. 6

  • Cures Dugu Bo's poison affliction. 6
  • Gains permission to harvest herbs from Dugu Bo's Medicine Garden, stripping it of rare medicinal plants. 6
  • His medicinal knowledge helps the Shrek Seven Devils achieve rapid cultivation gains through Immortal Grade herbs. 5

Eight Spider Lances

Tang San gains the Eight Spider Lances after absorbing a Man Faced Demon Spider's Soul Ring. 116

  • The External Soul Bone manifests as eight purple, metallic spider legs extending from his back. 116
  • Ye Luo forcibly tears the bone from Tang San's body, causing him to faint from the pain. 116
  • Tang San later cites this theft as a major grievance against Ye Luo. 157

Sea God and Asura God Powers

Tang San eventually inherits the Sea God position and later manifests Asura God power, making him a dual-position deity in several simulated futures. 85 128

  • Sea God Trident — His primary divine weapon as Sea God. 84 157
  • Divine resurrection — Returns after apparently being killed by Bibi Dong, awakened by blood-red Asura God power. 85
  • Dual divine inheritance — Regains both Sea God and Asura God positions after another resurrection. 128
  • LimitationYe Luo's vast Blue Silver Spirit Jade Emperor forest can bind Tang San and drain his Soul Power even after he becomes Sea God. 128 157

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Sea God Trident — Wielded after inheriting the Sea God position. 84 157
  • Blood-colored Asura greatsword — Manifested upon his Asura God resurrection. 85
  • Hidden Weapons — Concealed weapons created and supplied by Tang San. 19 119
  • Eight Spider Lances — Former External Soul Bone acquired from the Man Faced Demon Spider, later taken by Ye Luo. 116
  • Clear Sky Sect Elder Token — Given to Yu Xiaogang by Tang Hao before Tang San's enrollment at Nuoding Academy. 62

Relationships

  • Tang Hao — Father; repeatedly protects Tang San and sacrifices himself in some simulated futures to enable his escape. 30
  • Ah Yin — Mother and Blue Silver Emperor; a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast transformation. 43
  • Xiao Wu — His sweetheart; Tang San's attachment to her drives his actions and makes him vulnerable to threats against her. 9 140
