Background / History

Ariel was born to Deen Hicks. Her family lost its territory and noble title, fell into poverty, and fled from unspecified threats. A year before arriving at Gray Eagle Territory, she and Deen were captured by bandits and sold through multiple slave merchants until they reached Decker City. 33

While traveling with Loren’s caravan, Ariel was nearly killed by an escaping Kobold prisoner. The Kobold attacked her after she awoke and screamed, but its claws were severed by a sword strike before it could harm her. 33

Loren recognized Ariel and Deen as rare administrative talents among the slaves he brought to Gray Eagle Territory. He arranged for them to live in the manor and intended to appoint them as early City Hall officials. 33 34
