Background

Ancient Heavenly Court

The modern Heavenly Court is an attempt to restore the legacy of an ancient force of the same name. In the distant past, the Heavenly Court elevated the Milky Way Starfield into the universe's top ten starfields and was regarded by some as a contender for the foremost position. Its ranks included countless powerhouses, as well as the Human Emperor and Heavenly Emperor. 167

The ancient organization’s authority extended throughout the starry sky; even major star-domain clans were expected to obey its commands. It declined and ultimately disappeared after the Human Emperor and Heavenly Emperor departed and its strong figures dwindled. Other great clans may also have contributed to its fall because they resented its dominance. 368

Lu Yuan later concludes that the ancient Heavenly Court was likely founded to unite the universe against the Extraterrestrial Heavenly Demons, a threat too great for even supreme individuals to confront alone. 368 436

Modern Re-establishment

Huaxia’s elders create the modern Heavenly Court to gather exceptional Awakeners under Lu Yuan’s leadership. When asked to name the organization, Lu Yuan is reminded of the Heavenly Emperor Ancient Token and chooses “Heavenly Court”; Elder Ji and the others accept it as a name fitting Huaxia’s mythology and identity. 120

The organization begins with Lu Yuan alone, then opens recruitment through formal trials. Its early membership consists of elite human Awakeners and powerful Exotic Beasts, with official resources, spiritual fruits, exotic grasses, and Jiang Ningxian’s support accelerating its growth. 120 132

Governance and Territory

The Heavenly Court gradually replaces Huaxia’s former official authorities as the era’s changing conditions make centralized supernatural power necessary. Elder Ji, Elder Yun, and the other officials transfer their authority, armies, resources, and control over the five super-cities to the organization. 200 232

Mount Tai is its political and military center. Directives for the five super-cities are issued from there, and unauthorized entry is prohibited due to the site’s importance. 244
