Background

Ji Shang was among Qingyun High School's strongest awakened students after the apocalypse began. He wore Asura Armor and sheltered with two other Super Martial Artists, wielding Black Crow and Firebird Armor respectively. When Gu Qijue called him out by name, Ji Shang cautiously met him at the school gate and questioned how someone who was not a Super Martial Artist could kill powerful mutated creatures so easily. 9

Gu Qijue explained that Ji Shang's Asura Super Martial was Saint Tier and described him as one of humanity's future pillars. Ji Shang agreed to follow Gu Qijue, provided the students under his protection would be accounted for; the school then held thirty-eight students, including twenty-one awakened individuals. 9

Personality

Ji Shang is fiercely loyal to Gu Qijue and openly rejects the Emperor Abyss Group's claim that his leader is an enemy of humanity. He condemns survivors who falsely portray themselves as Gu Qijue's victims, arguing that Gu Qijue had fed and protected them. 28

He is pragmatic under pressure. During the battle with four peak Innate Ancient Martial Artists, he orders the group to retreat rather than become a burden to the strange creatures buying them time. 29

His loyalty is ultimately uncompromising. After saving Chu Yue and her mother due to his prior connection with Chu Yue, he kills Chu Yue when she asks him to assassinate Gu Qijue. Gu Qijue witnesses the act and decides that Ji Shang has proven himself trustworthy. 38 40

Strange Creature Attack

Ji Shang helps defend the school group when an unidentified three-eyed strange creature stalks and kills its members. He gives Gu Qijue his Asura Battle Blades for the fight that allows Gu Qijue to advance to Fourth Order. 15 16

Defiance of the Emperor Abyss Group

When four peak Innate Ancient Martial Artists seize Qingyun High School, Ji Shang refuses their demand to abandon Gu Qijue. He and the other loyal Super Martial Artists are targeted for execution before Guilai's strange creatures intervene. 28 29

Return of Gu Qijue

Ji Shang escapes with the others while Guilai's group delays the Ancient Martial Artists. After Gu Qijue returns and kills the attackers, Ji Shang reunites with him and affirms his loyalty. 29 30

Chu Yue's Execution

Ji Shang asks Gu Qijue to spare Chu Yue and her mother because of his connection to Chu Yue. Later, when Chu Yue asks him to murder Gu Qijue, he kills her himself rather than allow a threat to remain within the faction. 38 40
