First Appearance Chapter 1, “Working Is Impossible”

Background

Li Changle awakens in a hospital after an apparent overwork-induced collapse and discovers that he has transmigrated into a parallel world. The body he inhabits belonged to a handsome, kind-hearted recent graduate who had been hospitalized after intervening to protect a woman from harassers. After receiving the original owner’s memories, Li Changle regards himself as both the transmigrator and this world’s Li Changle rather than dwelling on the distinction. 1

Determined not to repeat the exhausting corporate life of his previous world, he abandons conventional employment and becomes a web novelist. He uses his memories of Earth’s stories, songs, and poetry to fill what he sees as a cultural gap in his new world, beginning with Legend of Sword and Fairy 1 under the pen name Li Xiaoyao. 1 3

Appearance

Li Changle is consistently noted for his handsome appearance. He is 1.78 meters tall and, despite the weakness lingering after his hospitalization, carries himself with enough confidence to draw attention beside celebrities. 1 95

  • Tall, at 1.78 meters. 1
  • Described as very handsome. 1
  • Initially physically weakened after the assault and hospitalization. 1
  • Usually favors comfortable, casual clothing over fashionable outfits; Wang Siyi later selects more polished outfits for him. 90 95

Personality

Li Changle is warm-hearted and considerate, especially toward people in distress. He lets Wang Siyi stay when he finds her crying outside his apartment, cooks for her, and avoids taking advantage of her vulnerability. His conduct leads Wang Weimin to view him as decent, brave, and trustworthy. 3 25

He is deeply averse to excessive work and repeatedly insists that he does not want to become a corporate slave again. This carefree attitude can make him impulsive and difficult for editors to manage, such as when he releases completed drafts without warning. Yet he becomes exceptionally focused when a project’s quality or someone close to him is at stake. 3 144 312

Romantically, Li Changle is initially dense and inexperienced. He mistakes his growing attachment to Wang Siyi for ordinary concern before eventually recognizing that he had fallen for her long before their relationship became official. 25 108 311
