Background and History

Kureha was born on Drum Island and became famous for her medical talent while still in her teens. She traveled to study medicine, then began researching longevity as the people she knew grew older. After spending ten years developing a partial result, she outlived her old friends and returned to Drum Island to live in seclusion 135.

Garp, an old friend whose life she had once saved, brought the infant Meiser to her. Kureha found him healthy but detected an abnormal aura and agreed to observe and care for him. She demanded supplies and research on the Lineage Factor as payment. Over the following year, she treated and educated Meiser, becoming his caregiver as well as his medical mentor 2 3.

Kureha later developed APTX 4869 II and took it herself. It returned her body to that of a seven-year-old—about 1.2 meters tall—without reducing her adult mental capacity. She subsequently left Drum Island with Meiser’s group, saying she wanted to settle somewhere no one knew her 66 67.

Appearance

After rejuvenation, Kureha has the physique of a petite child despite retaining her adult mind 66.

Personality

Kureha is sharp-tongued, playful, and protective. She charges steep medical fees and readily scolds Meiser, but worries when he takes risks. After he fights Drum Island guards, she tells him not to kill innocents while making clear that his life matters more to her than that of an attacker 7 10.

Her curiosity drives much of her work: she studies Meiser’s unusual physiology, investigates unfamiliar plants and lineage factors, and is willing to test new treatments on herself. She also respects private boundaries; when Meiser hesitates to explain the source of a drug, she chooses not to press him 8 30 73 157.
