Background / History

In her former life, Tang San was an impoverished Tang Sect Outer Disciple. Inner Sect disciples treated her as inferior, but she remained stubbornly committed to hidden-weapon practice and sought greater status and martial knowledge. Li Yue intervened when an Inner Disciple bullied her, then offered to teach her the Tang Sect’s secret teachings. Tang San responded with complete gratitude, declaring that she had only her life with which to repay him 2.

Li Yue appointed her Outer Sect Supervisor and personally gave her the annotated Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record. Their bond became both master-servant and master-disciple: Tang San attended to Li Yue’s needs, trained under his guidance, and became responsible for the Outer Sect’s hidden weapons 3 4. By age twenty-nine, she had recreated the legendary Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus, an achievement that led the Inner Sect to consider making her an Inner Disciple 6.

The elders condemned Li Yue for privately transmitting Inner Sect secrets to her. When Li Yue crippled his own cultivation and leapt from Ghost’s Worry to shield her from the consequences, Tang San blamed herself and followed him off the cliff. Before jumping, she vowed that she would repay Li Yue in another life 7.

Tang San was reborn in Holy Spirit Village as Tang Hao’s daughter.
