Ya Fei is described as both an orphan and a direct descendant of the Miter Family of the Gamma Empire’s Imperial Capital. Her weak cultivation aptitude left her at the second stage of Fighting Qi at age sixteen, and the family assigned her to its Wutan City business as an ordinary sales assistant rather than an auctioneer 24.

Seeking to meet her performance targets and return to the Miter Family Main Branch, Ya Fei paid Hun Han to teach her the Way of Commerce. Though initially suspicious of a six-year-old instructor, she continued because she lacked another guide and believed she could demand her tuition back if he failed 24.
