Background / History

Yun Jian discovered a white-jade teleportation array amid ruins in a peculiar mountain range while traveling as a young man. He settled at the site, made basic repairs to the array, and founded the Exploding Heaven Gang around it. The gang’s headquarters later deteriorated after Yun Jian failed to find disciples he considered satisfactory and gradually lost his fighting spirit 35.

The gang was founded as a refuge from worldly prejudice. Yun Jian had left the Yun Lan Sect after his relationship with a poison girl was rejected, ending in her death; he intended his new organization to be a gang of freedom 44.

The Sacred Hall’s teleportation array leads to the ruins of the ancient Talisman Sect, where an underground training plaza contained the eighth-ranked Exotic Water, the Nine Nether Wind Ice 35 36.

• Outer courtyard — A large, cobweb-covered courtyard littered with gravel, human bones, and skeletons; Yun Jian placed the remains and phosphorescent fires as a deterrent against people stealing bricks and white jade from the site 33 35.
• Sacred Hall — A dilapidated ancient building with red walls, yellow tiles, damaged doors and windows, and a white-jade structure at its center 33 34.
• Teleportation array — The hall’s central seven-meter-high, seven-meter-wide white-jade “altar” is a functioning teleportation array powered by a Magic Core 34 35.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Hun Han’s recruitment

Hun Han learned of the gang through a Location Sign-in mission and traveled to its mountain stronghold in search of the Sacred Hall 10 31 33. He initially attempted to enter without joining, but Yun Jian effortlessly stopped him and revealed his Dou Huang cultivation 34.

After agreeing to the gang’s terms and performing the disciple-acceptance ceremony, Hun Han entered the Sacred Hall, completed his sign-in, and received the Talisman Secret Codex 34.

Talisman Sect expedition

Yun Jian showed Hun Han the teleportation array and led him to the ancient Talisman Sect ruins. There, they investigated the Nine Nether Wind Ice and prepared for Hun Han’s attempt to absorb it 35 37.

Yun Jian fought the sentient Exotic Water’s origin with his black bamboo-like staff, restrained it, and gave Hun Han the opportunity to refine it. The exertion aggravated Yun Jian’s long-standing cold affliction 42 44.

Zi Yan’s induction

While gathering materials for Hun Han’s talismans, Yun Jian encountered Zi Yan and attempted to recruit her immediately due to her exceptional physique 38. Zi Yan ultimately joined after Hun Han cooked a Flame Rhinoceros for her, becoming a member of the gang and Hun Han’s junior sister 39.

Yun Jian’s legacy

After Hun Han refined the Nine Nether Wind Ice, Yun Jian revealed that a previous failed attempt to absorb the Exotic Water had left him with an incurable cold affliction. Fighting it again to obtain its origin caused the suppressed injury to erupt 43 44.

Yun Jian disclosed his name, past, and founding ideals to Hun Han. He entrusted Hun Han with a jade token, directed him to seek Yun Shan of the Yun Lan Sect if necessary, and asked him to destroy the teleportation array after departing 44.
