Background / History

Qingyun Sect is a millennia-old righteous sect based in the Qingyun Mountain Range of the Central Plains. Its influence is acknowledged across both the Righteous and Demonic Paths. The sect is organized around Seven Peaks, whose masters gather at Yuqing Hall on Heaven-Reaching Peak under the sect leader. 1

True Lord Qingye, the sect's eleventh-generation leader, became its defining historical figure. He integrated the Taiji Xuanqing Dao, became the first Supreme Purity cultivator, established the Zhu Xian Sword Array and the Heavenly Machine Seal, and secured Qingyun Sect's long-term prosperity. Qingye later died, leaving behind a remnant soul. 100 101

At the beginning of the story, True Lord Daoxuan serves as the eighteenth sect leader. The Heavenly Curtain's prediction that Qingyun's future nineteenth leader would become the Number One Sword Immortal Under Heaven makes the sect the focus of the entire Divine Continent. 1 2

Story Role / Major Arcs

Heavenly Curtain Revelations

The Heavenly Curtain first manifests above Qingyun Mountain while the Seven Peaks' masters discuss the martial tournament. It identifies Qingyun's future nineteenth leader as the Zhu Xian Sword's wielder, a collector of all five Heavenly Tome scrolls, and the future founder of a widespread immortal path. 1

The revelations expose Qingyun Sect's future strength, including Lu Xueqi's rise as the Number One Female Sword Immortal Under Heaven. This attention draws Demonic Sect scrutiny and assassination attempts against Qingyun's talented disciples. 8 10

Assassination Attempt and Internal Suspicion

Demonic Sect assassins infiltrate the Seven Peaks and attack Lu Xueqi on Little Bamboo Peak. Ye Changfeng intervenes with a sword strike that kills the attackers and frightens the remaining infiltrators into retreat. 12 15

Daoxuan publicly frames the event as an assassination attempt thwarted by the mysterious “Azure Cloud Sect Leader,” using the incident to deter further attacks while withholding the protector's identity. 18 19

Wan Jianyi later informs Daoxuan that Cangsong is the traitor within Qingyun Sect, confirming Daoxuan's growing suspicions. 19

Defense Against the Demonic Sect

Cangsong secretly provides the Demonic Sect with intelligence on Qingyun's defenses and encourages an attack while Tianyin Temple and Burning Incense Valley are delayed. 94 95

The Demonic Sect eventually assaults Qingyun Mountain under the Poison God, Yuyangzi, and Wan Renwang. Cangsong attempts to assassinate Daoxuan during the invasion, but Daoxuan anticipates and blocks the strike. 235

Qingyun Sect defeats the invaders decisively. Ye Changfeng severely defeats the Poison God and kills Yuyangzi, while Qingyun disciples and Shangqing masters rout the Demonic Sect forces. 238

Righteous Path Leadership

Qingyun Sect later coordinates with Tianyin Temple to eliminate Demonic Sect remnants. Tian Buyi and Divine Monk Puhong kill the weakened Poison God, while most of the Myriad Poisons Sect is eradicated. 249 251

The Heavenly Curtain depicts Qingyun disciples as the first to defend the world during calamity. In one future battle, 472 Object Manipulation Realm sword cultivators sacrifice themselves at Luoshen Pass to delay one hundred thousand Beast Demons and protect civilians. 68

Tianyin Temple and Burning Incense Valley later lend aid to Qingyun Sect during the Beast God crisis. 156

Ye Changfeng's Succession

After Ye Changfeng protects Qingyun Sect through its crisis, Daoxuan relinquishes the sect leadership and hands him the Zhu Xian Ancient Sword. Ye Changfeng becomes Qingyun Sect's nineteenth-generation leader and governs the Seven Peaks from Yuqing Hall. 292

On the same day, Shuiyue passes Little Bamboo Peak to Lu Xueqi, consolidating the leadership of Qingyun's central institutions under the new generation. 292

Future Prosperity and Succession

The future Green Robe Sect Leader plans to ascend after a hundred years. He arranges for Ye Xiaoyao, his son with You Ji, to remain behind and succeed him as Qingyun Sect Leader. 273 277

Reputation

  • The Heavenly Curtain calls Qingyun Sect the true leader of the Righteous Path for its willingness to sacrifice its disciples to defend the world. 68 156
  • Its future nineteenth leader is credited with annihilating the Blood Refining Hall, Longevity Hall, and Myriad Poisons Sect, breaking the Demonic Sect's plans for resurgence. 4
  • The future sect is projected to be guarded by Ye Changfeng as a Yang God True Immortal and by multiple Earthly Immortal-level figures, including Lu Xueqi, Linglong, and Qingye. 219 262
