Background / History

Tian Buyi discovered Ye Changfeng at the foot of Qingyun Mountain and accepted him as Great Bamboo Peak’s seventh disciple, several months before Zhang Xiaofan joined the peak. A transmigrator with extraordinary aptitude and comprehension, Ye rapidly cultivated Taiji Xuanqing Dao while concealing his actual strength from his master and fellow disciples. 1 16

After the Heavenly Curtain began revealing the future Green Robe Sect Leader, Ye changed from his usual green robes to white to avoid suspicion. Tian Buyi briefly considered whether his seventh disciple could be the figure shown by the Curtain, but dismissed the idea based on Ye’s apparent cultivation. 11

Ye intervened during the Demonic Sect’s infiltration of Qingyun Sect, using a sword strike to warn the sect and deducing that an internal traitor had enabled the assassins. The near-threat to Lu Xueqi and his senior brothers provoked intense killing intent; he later identified Cangsong Daoist as the likely traitor. Wan Jianyi discovered Ye’s hidden identity and agreed to keep it secret. 16

Ye later admitted to Qi Hao and Zeng Shushu that he was the Green Robe Sect Leader revealed by the Heavenly Curtain. His identity became widely known after the Curtain exposed his surname and linked him to Great Bamboo Peak, drawing the hostility of the Demonic Sect and Burning Incense Valley. 40 131

Appearance

Ye is a slender, tall young man with a jade-like, imposing bearing. He is strongly associated with green robes, though he temporarily wore white to obscure his connection to the Heavenly Curtain’s Green Robe Sect Leader. 11 86

  • Usually wears green robes; changed to white robes while hiding his identity. 11
  • Carries a bamboo sword before forging his natal flying sword. 40
  • His future self appears nearly identical to him, but taller, more mature, and more jade-like in temperament. 225
  • His presence is frequently accompanied by overwhelming sword intent. 16 86

Personality

Ye initially prefers to remain unnoticed, believing that openly displaying his ability would invite needless trouble. He hides his cultivation and identity not from fear of assassination, but because he dislikes being burdened by complications. 16

Despite this reserved nature, he is fiercely protective of those close to him. The danger posed to Lu Xueqi and his Great Bamboo Peak senior brothers becomes his “reverse scale,” pushing him to act decisively against enemies and traitors. 16 236

His outlook changes after the Blood Refining Hall incident: he resolves that he no longer wishes to lie low and chooses to contribute to the world. Even after future Malevolent Qi drives him into demonhood, he continues focusing his violence on demonic forces rather than pursuing power or dominion. 46 179
