Lesser Qiong Peak

Li Changshou was already the senior disciple of Lesser Qiong Peak when Li Yang and Lan Ling'e entered the Immortal Crossing Sect. He used Soft Immortal Powder on Li Yang, then staged a bruised and battered appearance after Qi Yuan disciplined him; his injuries vanished once their master departed 2.

He instructed the two new disciples in sect etiquette, social dealings, and the importance of avoiding attention. His cautious worldview centered on reducing Karma and concealing one’s presence; he had also improved an aura-concealment technique for them to learn once they entered cultivation 2.

Li Changshou’s own extraordinary comprehension had carried him to the Returning Dao Ninth Stage. Rather than treat this aptitude as an advantage to flaunt, he considered rapid cultivation dangerous because it attracted covetous attention and increased the risk of tribulation 3. Li Yang’s growth therefore made him initially suspicious and wary, though he soon resolved to teach his junior brother the “Steady Character Scripture” rather than act rashly 3 4.

Northern Juru Mission

Li Changshou joined Li Yang’s dangerous mission to the Chaotic Miasma Treasure Forest, where he displayed Void Refining First Stage cultivation publicly 9. When assassins pursued the pair, he and Li Yang evaded them for two days before arranging an ambush with clones, formations, and poison; all five attackers were killed, with their bodies and souls destroyed 12.

After uncovering a plot involving Liu Yan'er, Wang Qi, Fairy Jiujiu, and Youqin Xuanya, Li Changshou argued against Li Yang’s intention to seek Immortal Ascension outside the sect. Li Changshou accepted Ao Yi’s sparring challenge to protect Immortal Crossing Sect’s reputation. With Li Yang’s concealment assistance and temporary spiritual treasures, he chose formations, talismans, and Earth Escape over direct combat, seeking a victory that would not make him conspicuous 58 60.

His tactics repeatedly exploited Ao Yi’s blind spots and vulnerable positions. He ultimately defeated Ao Yi with Earth Escape, publicly admitted to using a “treacherous move,” and accepted punishment to preserve the sect’s honor 61.

Heavenly Court and the South Sea

Li Changshou’s hidden identity as the South Sea Sea God was exposed to Li Yang, who advised him that his growing Karma could not simply be abandoned and should instead be legitimized through the Heavenly Court 118. Li Changshou eventually accepted that he could no longer obtain the quiet, low-responsibility divine post he wanted: his Water God temples, believers, Dragon Clan ties, and service to Haotian had already made him too significant 173.

During the Dragon Clan’s submission to Heaven, he appeared as Li Chang Geng and stood beside Dong Yuan as a recognized participant in the ceremony 233. Haotian subsequently appointed him First Rank Water God, granting him authority over the waterways of the Southern Jambu Continent, the power to appoint Water Gods, and command over water affairs across the Three Realms 234.

Later Advancement

Li Changshou’s Water God tradition expanded into a vast power with innumerable Immortal Realm disciples, subordinate disciples, and billions of believers, leaving him burdened with how to manage its scale 235. He later proved the Dao as a Human Path Saint, helping drive an era of prosperity through cooperation with the Heavenly Court, Underworld, and human sages 296.

Despite becoming a Saint, he remained wary of Transcendents and other unknown threats. Taiqing later accepted him as a Personal Disciple, recognizing that Li Changshou’s caution persisted even after attaining Sainthood 318.
