Identity

Hongjun is described as having merged with the Heavenly Dao during Li Yang's Golden Immortal tribulation. Later events distinguish Heavenly Dao Hongjun from Dao Ancestor Hongjun, with the former constrained by Dao Ancestor Hongjun and Taiqing. 86 234

The Heavenly Dao possesses independent intent rather than operating as an entirely impartial force. Li Yang concludes that Heavenly Dao Merit follows this will: those who please Hongjun may receive easier tribulations, while those who offend him may suffer despite accumulated merit. 209

Before its collapse, the Heavenly Dao identifies itself as the Heavenly Dao, Dao Ancestor, and Demon Ancestor. Ye Chen further explains that it is tied to imperfectly merged remnant souls associated with the Water God, Xing, and the Great Emperor; their conflict is blamed for the world's abnormalities and Great Tribulation. 269

The Heavenly Dao is calculating and self-preserving. It hesitates to destroy Li Yang's Immeasurable Dao because doing so could provoke a Chaos Demon God and produce consequences beyond its deductions. 234

Its concern for survival can become destructive. Upon sensing its own approaching end, it attempts to save itself by attacking the Chaos Demon, the Great Dao, and the abyssal Demon, prompting opposition from the Daoist, the Demon, and the Ancestral Earth. 267

Conflict with Li Yang

Li Yang's clash with Zhunti severely destabilizes the Heavenly Dao. Merit and karma reverse repeatedly, tribulation pressure falls upon affected cultivators, and the Heavenly Dao ultimately suffers three fissures. 194 199

Hongjun directs the Saints to repair the damage. Zhunti and Jieyin must relinquish part of their Heavenly Dao authority so the other Saints' Daos can fill the fissures, permanently reducing the Western Saints' influence within the Heavenly Dao. 199

After the Dragon Clan's ascension completes the Heavenly Dao Trend, the Heavenly Dao grows stronger alongside the Earth Dao and Human Path. Heavenly Dao Hongjun becomes alarmed when Li Yang begins establishing the Immeasurable Dao as an independent path capable of producing Saints. 234 236

Collapse and Re-establishment

As its end approaches, the Heavenly Dao attempts to preserve itself through force, attacking rival powers and destabilizing the world. The Daoist and Demon oppose it, while the Ancestral Earth intervenes to suppress it. 267

The Heavenly Dao eventually confronts the Great Emperor and is destroyed. Its fall is followed by the disappearance of the Heavenly Dao and Demonic Dao from the world's former order. 269 270
