Saint Jieyin, however, refused to let the matter go and said, "Haotian!
Do not push your luck!
My Western Teachings are a dignified Great Sect of saints. If I allow you to dispose of my disciples, then what face would the Western Teachings have left to call themselves a Great Sect of saints?
This is absolutely impossible!"
Haotian, upon hearing this, said in a deep voice, "A Great Sect of saints?
Can a Great Sect of saints do whatever they please?
In the Primordial World today, it is true that saints possess the greatest strength, but that does not mean the face of saints is more important than the lives of all beings in the Primordial World.
Imperial We's first condition stands as is, with no room for negotiation.
For Saint Jieyin to react so strongly—could it be that you are already plotting to have Ksitigarbha wreak havoc in the Underworld in the future?
To avoid trouble down the line, Imperial We thinks it would be better for Ksitigarbha not to enter the Underworld at all.
If the saint has no other matters, then let us end this here.
Imperial We still has to go and deliver the Lost Souls, and has no time to idle away chatting with the saint."
With that, Haotian made as if to rise and leave.
Seeing this, Jieyin quickly spoke up, "Wait!"
Haotian turned his head to look at Jieyin and said, "Oh~?
Does the saint have something else?
If it is something that would trouble Imperial We, then it is better left unsaid.
After all, matters that trouble Imperial We are not as simple as you saints imagine.
You saints either stare at what is in your own bowl or covet what is in others'.
But Imperial We must seek a path of survival for all living beings in the Primordial World."
At Haotian's words, Jieyin was seized by a fit of fury and coldness.
So this is how it is—in your eyes, Haotian, I, a dignified saint, am so worthless.
But then again, who among us isn't keeping a close eye on their own share of fortune while eyeing others'?
The Primordial World is vast, yet it can also be said to be small.
Within such limited space, how can one afford not to guard fortune tightly?
You, Haotian, have difficulties?
Once you sit on that Heavenly Emperor Throne, with the Dao Ancestor backing you, whether things are difficult or not depends entirely on your mood.
Whether you have difficulties or not, This Seat does not know.
Right now, This Seat feels quite troubled himself.
Forget it!
Why dwell on this?
How could an ant like Haotian ever understand the difficulties of us saints?
The priority is still to get Ksitigarbha into the Underworld.
Having thought this through, Jieyin spoke up, "Very well!
Your first condition, the Western Teachings accepts."
Haotian, upon hearing this, sat back down and said slowly, "Since the saint has accepted this condition, please instruct your disciples well, lest when the time comes, they find excuses to shirk responsibility.
Now, let us move on to the second condition.
Your Western Teachings sending Ksitigarbha into the Underworld has reminded Imperial We.
On the vast lands of the Primordial World, Imperial We should also dispatch personnel to manage affairs.
I hope that when the time comes, Saint Jieyin will not disrupt the normal operations of the Heavenly Court."
As Haotian's words fell, Jieyin's heart sank.
Trouble!
This scoundrel Haotian intends to meddle in the West.
If his forces truly gain a foothold in the West...
Then wouldn't every move of his Western Teachings disciples be under Haotian's watchful eyes?
This Seat had only just set sights on the Underworld, and you, Haotian, immediately target the West to counter my Western Teachings?
But!
How can one tolerate another snoring beside one's own bed?
This matter cannot be agreed to.
Thus, Saint Jieyin spoke: "The West has its own Western Teachings to manage; there's no need for you, Haotian, to trouble yourself over it."
Hearing this, Haotian raised an eyebrow.
"The West has the Western Teachings to manage, and Imperial We need not worry?
Does Saint Jieyin mean by this that the West has already broken away from the Primordial World?
Since when?
How is it that Imperial We, the Heavenly Emperor, am unaware?
Does the Dao Ancestor know of this?"
When Haotian finished speaking, Jieyin replied calmly: "The West has not broken away from the Primordial World.
This Seat is merely stating a fact.
With the Western Teachings here, the West does not require the Heavenly Court's governance."
But Haotian, upon hearing this, said in a deep voice: "So the West hasn't left the Primordial World after all.
Then Saint Jieyin must have misunderstood something.
Imperial We, Haotian!
Am the Heavenly Emperor of the Primordial World!
Since the West hasn't left the Primordial World, what Imperial We just said was a notification to you.
Not a negotiation!
The Saint had best understand the difference between the two.
Otherwise, it might lead others to suspect that your Western Teachings harbor treacherous intentions, seeking to replace the Heavenly Court."
Haotian said this without fear of Jieyin turning hostile.
Turn hostile?
So what if he did?
Could the Western Teachings replace the Heavenly Court?
Clearly, they lacked that strength.
Since the Western Teachings didn't have that power, it didn't matter whether Jieyin turned hostile or not.
Besides, the Old Man was still holding things up.
For the time being, Jieyin didn't have the nerve.
And upon hearing Haotian's words, Jieyin's face immediately darkened.
"If that's the case, then why bother notifying This Seat at all?
Just send your cultivators directly.
But the West is a land of barren mountains and harsh rivers, where great demons inevitably lurk in hiding.
I hope the cultivators your Heavenly Court sends can gain a foothold in the West."
Haotian clearly caught the threat in Jieyin's words.
But was Haotian the type to be threatened?
He immediately replied: "Imperial We also hopes that those cultivators will come to no harm.
Otherwise, whether it's the one who strikes or the one who pulls the strings behind the scenes—
Along with the faction that instigated them, Imperial We will brand them all as demonic heretics.
Imperial We will summon all cultivators of the Primordial World to crusade against them.
Even if Imperial We cannot deduce the mastermind, the Dao Ancestor is still here.
I trust none of this will be a problem."
As soon as Haotian said this, Jieyin lost all desire to retort.
This Seat merely threatens you once, and you immediately drag the Dao Ancestor in to back you up.
Can we even have a pleasant exchange anymore?
Forget it!
Since threats don't work, I'll just go along for now.
As for whether I'll follow through later, that depends on whether a suitable opportunity arises.
Whenever there was a chance, these thorns had to be pulled out.
Then Jieyin said, "Hmph!
This Seat has noted your reminder.
Are there any other conditions?
If not, then This Seat will discuss matters with Fellow Daoist Pingxin."
Were there conditions?
Of course there were!
The first two conditions had been negotiated from the perspective of the Heavenly Court.
Now it was time to negotiate from his own perspective and secure some benefits.
Otherwise, wouldn't he be wasting the opportunity Jieyin had handed him?
But what should he extort from this fellow?
Spiritual treasures?
Not suitable!
Those too low-grade, he wouldn't even look at.
Those too high-grade, Jieyin wouldn't give.
Besides, this opportunity had essentially fallen into his lap.
After all, the Underworld had been infiltrated by cultivators from the Western Teachings.
To him, Haotian, there was no direct loss.
The one who suffered the greatest loss of interest was undoubtedly Empress Pingxin.
After pondering for a moment, Haotian settled on a plan.
Then he spoke, "I hope the Sage truly understands Imperial We's meaning.
As for the next condition, it's simple.
Three Twelve-grade Golden Lotus Seeds of Merit, three Bodhi Seeds.
Ten pieces of Innate Spiritual Materials.
Imperial We's request isn't excessive, is it?
If you have to haggle over even this much, Imperial We will have to doubt the Sage's sincerity."
As Haotian's words fell, Jieyin couldn't be bothered to waste any more breath on him.
With a flick of his sleeve, he tossed out the items Haotian had demanded.
Then, without even acknowledging Haotian, he turned his gaze to Empress Pingxin.
His expression seemed to say that even a single extra glance at Haotian would be an insult to the grievances he had already endured.
