When Alex tried to go back and press the elevator button again, he found that Li Dan had nearly pressed the buttons until they were smoking.

But it was useless. The elevator only had four floors, yet the display had now dropped to dozens, even hundreds, of floors below.

Sarah clutched her head and squatted down in near collapse.

By this point, Li Dan had begun to piece things together. At first, he had thought it would be simple—at most a few evil spirits or ghosts, or perhaps demons at worst.

But once he truly entered this place, he realized it was nothing like that.

When they first encountered the Horror Patient and the pale, tall, gaunt monster, Annabelle could have utterly crushed them. Yet her power could not affect the monsters, as though some barrier lay between them.

It was like countless spaces overlapped one another. What appeared to be a single step apart was actually separated by an unknowable distance.

Mary Shaw's Ghost Domain had not been suppressed by anyone. It was being suppressed by the entirety of The Further.

There was just one thing Li Dan did not understand.

On the way here, Li Dan had randomly beaten up a few passersby to make sure all this was real rather than some so-called illusion or hallucination.

So why had they still been sent back?

The four of them entered the dim tunnel.

Alex looked at the dead Mouse on the ground. It had been arranged exactly as it was when they left, without the slightest change.

They had not gone far when the pipes in the underground passage suddenly began spewing dense gas.
