Evil Spirit Incarnation's Minions Reach Eight

The quiet in the darkness was soon broken.

Li Dan held another card in his hand.

"Detected SCP - Evil Spirit Incarnation Wendigo."

Unlike the traces of the previous Wendigos, this introduction made it clear it wasn't simple, with the addition of "Evil Spirit Incarnation."

Thinking back to the appearance of the Wendigo just now, it was indeed different from those skinny-looking Wendigos.

"Evil Spirit Incarnation - Wendigo Diagram."

Its limbs were strong, its body covered in a blood-red substance that even concealed its originally dark skin. Its long ears resembled a bat's, and its fangs were stained with thick blood.

The Wendigos around it were only half its size.

Their cautious movements showed that these Wendigos also felt fear.

Li Dan wasn't sure if he and the Deformed Person brothers could defeat this Wendigo, so he wisely chose to remain hidden.

It seemed that the Wendigo just now was indeed different from the others.

These were, at best, just minor monsters.

However, Li Dan still chose to contain them. Even ordinary Wendigos were stronger than most humans.

Besides, they would be good as cannon fodder.

After containing the Spade Two, Heart Two, Diamond Two, and Club Two, all of the third sequence were unlocked.

This meant the Three of Spades, Three of Hearts, Three of Diamonds, Three of Clubs...

As Li Dan reasoned this out, he felt that the previous Ghost Cards likely had no necessary unlocking conditions, as long as there were enough contained entities.

Of course, he still needed to test it on-site.

Li Dan selected four of the strongest Wendigos on-site to contain, but he discovered that to advance to the fourth sequence, he needed ghosts or any Evil Spirit-type contained entity.

He had been thinking of containing all the Wendigos on the scene, which would have directly unlocked him to the fifth sequence.

With the number of his subordinates reaching eight, Li Dan's courage also grew.

The remaining few uncontrollable Wendigos were finished off by the second Mutated Ogre with arrows.

Li Dan checked the abilities that could be extracted from a Wendigo.

"Contained Entity: Wendigo."

"Extractable Abilities: Evil Spirit Possession (Probabilistic), Limb Enhancement, Hearing Enhancement, Bloodlust, Intelligence Weakening, Pain Deprivation."

Most of the abilities seemed normal, only Evil Spirit Possession looked a bit different.

Evil Spirit Possession?

These monsters could be called Wendigos, implying a possibility of possession.

Not like the one just now, which explicitly stated it was an Evil Spirit Incarnation.

Li Dan could have stopped here, but he was truly interested in that Evil Spirit Incarnation Wendigo. With eight subordinates, a rifle, and the last grenade, he wanted to try...

If handled properly, he could not only contain an Evil Spirit but also unlock the fifth sequence.

This temptation was immense...

After making up his mind, Li Dan wasted no time and proceeded with ability extraction.

"Contained Entity: Wendigo."

"Fusable Abilities: Limb Enhancement, Evil Spirit Possession (Probabilistic), Bloodlust, Intelligence Weakening, Bloodlust, Hearing Enhancement."

Six abilities that can be fused, with Bloodlust repeated twice.

Bloodlust: Devouring raw meat can speed up recovery, but at the same time, it will make one sensitive and craving for flesh and blood.

This ability is useless to Li Dan. Bloodlust is a bit like a Vampire. Among the remaining few, only Limb Enhancement and Hearing Enhancement look good.

Evil Spirit Possession gives off a feeling of uncontrollability.

Li Dan chose to discard Bloodlust, Intelligence Weakening, and Evil Spirit Possession, and instead fused Limb Enhancement and Hearing Enhancement.

The lowest level of the cave.

Juno was lying there, not dead. She had only been blown away by the grenade. This was thanks to the Wendigo on her body that had blocked most of the damage for her, otherwise, she would have been dead or crippled by now.

She groggily got up.

Juno held the pickaxe, her expression dazed, her face stained with the monster's blood without her noticing.

"Juno."

Hearing the voice, Juno instinctively raised the pickaxe in her hand. Upon seeing it was Li Dan, she breathed a sigh of relief.

She had experienced such a great upheaval in such a short amount of time.

Juno's mental state was extremely unstable, on the verge of collapse.

This could be seen from how she had just used the pickaxe to desperately smash the monster's head.

Almost insane.

Li Dan walked up to Juno, holding a rifle, and raised one hand.

Juno looked at the handgun Li Dan was offering and silently took it. She noticed the rifle in Li Dan's hand. She didn't know how he brought the rifle in; she didn't want to know and didn't want to ask.

She just wanted to know: "Where are Sarah and the others?"

"Scattered. Teacher Beth and Sarah went to chase Rebecca and Sam and ended up God knows where."

"Then... where's Holly..."

"You should have seen it yourself."

Juno was there at the time. When Holly was being eaten by the monster, she even reached out to her for help. She was asking again because she couldn't accept the fact.

Li Dan remembered that Juno was an extremely fierce woman in the movie, killing several Wendigos with weapons.

In his eyes, she was a combatant.

Since he had decided to confront that Wendigo that had transformed into an Evil Spirit, how could he not bring more cannon fodder... or perhaps not call them cannon fodder.

Even if Juno and the others didn't go looking for the Wendigo, it would eventually find Juno and Beth and the others.

Juno looked up at Li Dan, madness in her eyes.

"What do we do now?"

Li Dan turned and walked ahead, six Wendigos following him like shadows in the darkness, guarding his safety.

"Go save Teacher Beth and the others. Later, they'll be torn apart and devoured like Holly."

Li Dan didn't have much affection for this team, but Juno did. His words gave Juno immense motivation and hatred to deal with the monsters.

The scene of Holly's tragic death was still vivid in her mind.
