Insidious: The Dark Dimension, Spirits Become Water Ghosts, and Ghost Lake Becomes Whole

As the connection deepened, The Further began to manifest in reality.

More and more ghosts and evil spirits poured out.

Elise and the others had fallen into despair. Even the exorcists sent by the Holy See would be helpless against so many evil spirits and ghosts, not to mention the Dark Dimension.

Perhaps she shouldn't have waited. She should have decided sooner to let Josh save them.

The moment the evil spirits and ghosts emerged, they targeted the living people in the room. They needed to possess human bodies to leave the Dark Dimension.

They surged forward like vicious dogs fighting over food.

But after a few steps, they stopped dead.

In the dead silence,

the sound of "drip, drip" rang out with painful clarity.

The evil spirits stiffly raised their heads. A water stain in the center of the ceiling was spreading at an unnatural speed. Blackened drops fell from its edges, but instead of splashing across the floor, they gathered as if alive into little pools glowing faintly blue.

Stranger still, the pools reflected not the room but a boundless black lake, its surface littered with the remains of countless dolls.

Every step became a struggle. The lake's supernatural power was affecting them, and the ghosts in particular had begun to slowly dissolve in its waters.

The family and the two assistants clung to one another in terror, unable to make sense of what they were seeing.

It wasn't that they didn't want to run. Evil spirits and ghosts filled the house, inside and out.

Only the widely experienced Elise had some idea of what was happening.

She narrowed her eyes at the ever-expanding pools and the deepening chill in the air. Her heart sank.
