Nuoding Academy

Tang San studies under Yu Xiaogang at Nuoding Academy and fiercely defends him when Wu Xian ridicules his theories. He challenges Wu Xian to a duel over Yu Xiaogang’s credibility, attempts to attack before the referee begins the match, and keeps a Sleeve Arrow ready for a surprise strike. 2

During the duel, Tang San uses Blue Silver Bind but is restrained by Wu Xian’s metal constructs before he can deploy his hidden weapons. Wu Xian beats him unconscious and severely disfigures his face while Tang San is unable to verbally concede. 3

After Yu Xiaogang loses the ensuing dispute, Tang San is made to publicly call himself “a blind fool with open eyes” three times. He complies for his teacher’s sake but privately develops resentment toward both Wu Xian and Yu Xiaogang, deciding that Yu Xiaogang will remain only his teacher rather than his master. 5

When Xiao Wu is taken away by her family, Tang San resolves to become strong enough to reunite with her. Yu Xiaogang tells him he must reach Soul Saint level before learning details about her family. 17

God Realm Downfall

In the divine-era storyline, Tang San is exposed for using his parents, Tang Hao and Ah Yin, in an attempt to seize Douluo Star’s plane authority. He is also accused of exploiting the God Realm Central Hub for personal interests and repeatedly interfering with lower realms. 24 25

The Destruction God King arrests Tang San’s loyalists, including the Shrek Seven Devils, and presents Tang Hao and Ah Yin as evidence. Although his parents attempt to accept responsibility, other gods conclude that Divine Officials without godhood could not have seized a plane’s authority by themselves. 25

Tang San accepts punishment after the gods turn against him. The Life God King uses the God Realm Central Hub to remove his Asura Godhood, then locks his Sea Godhood at the peak of First-level God. He is further compelled to return his authority over Douluo Star’s oceans to the planet’s World Will. 25 26

After losing the Asura Godhood, Tang San retains residual Asura power and plans to send the key to its inheritance into the lower realm under the guise of a Sea God inheritance. 27

Tang Sect Repercussions

Tang San reacts with fury when Tang Ya renounces her position as Tang Sect master and vows to dissolve the sect, sensing the final trace of the Tang Sect’s fortune dissipate. He ultimately prioritizes locating Huo Yuhao, intending to place the burden of rebuilding the Tang Sect on him later. 41

The later Tang Sect is also portrayed as incomplete: its Mysterious Heaven Skill is said to be truncated, while key sections concerning poison and counter-poison methods are missing. Tang Ya initially refuses to accept these claims about her ancestor’s legacy. 32

Main World Punishment

After hearing of a powerful Tang Sect in Suotuo City, the Main World Tang San panics at the possibility that the sect from his previous life has followed him. He fears exposure as a former Tang Sect disciple who stole the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record, and begins seeing potential Tang Sect assassins everywhere. 85

He later suffers a looping illusion in which he repeatedly experiences death and believes that he has been reborn as a pig. The experience leaves him afraid to sleep alone and contributes to Shrek Academy’s decision to make him leave. 87 88

While traveling with Yu Xiaogang, Tang San is intercepted by people posing as Tang Sect elders. Under pressure, he admits to stealing the Tang Sect’s inheritance and claims credit for creating the Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus. 89

He is ultimately captured and taken to a mass grave, where his soul is divided among three bodies: a beggar, a sow, and foxtail grass. The three consciousnesses share pain, and all knowledge connected to the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record is erased. 90

Personality

Tang San is intensely protective of Yu Xiaogang during his early academy years, treating insults toward his teacher as personal offenses. However, his loyalty is conditional: after being humiliated for Yu Xiaogang’s sake, he privately resents his teacher and redefines their bond more distantly. 2 5

He places exceptional importance on reputation and reacts violently when his past as a Tang Sect thief is exposed. His immediate response is not denial but an enraged assertion that he alone deserved credit for advancing the sect’s inherited arts. 89
