Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Small Blessed Land | 15 159 | A Foundation Establishment family can establish a small Blessed Land through a heaven and earth spirit root. Yu An’s newly established domain began at thirty li in diameter. |
| Medium Blessed Land | 193 243 | Promotion requires the Blessed Land’s spirit root or lord to break through; it is considered complete when both have advanced. Tianyin became the Eastern Region’s twenty-fifth medium Blessed Land after Li Yaozu and the Eight-Clawed Tree advanced together. |
| Large Blessed Land | 128 250 | Large Blessed Lands hold regional authority and can oversee lesser Blessed Lands. A Blessed Land’s diameter cannot exceed 360 li before its next transformation. |
| Grotto-heaven | 65 250 | Elevating a Blessed Land into a grotto-heaven is a higher-order transformation tied to world luck and can provoke major insectoid attacks. |
Nature and Purpose
Blessed Lands arose after special plants evolved into heaven and earth spirit roots capable of resisting the Black Annihilation Wind Disaster. They became humanity’s principal shelters after the disaster nearly eradicated ordinary people and inflicted catastrophic losses on cultivators. 1
A Blessed Land is more than a defensive enclosure. Its domain repels or softens the wind disaster, regulates local conditions, supports settlement life, and subtly strengthens the life essence of those who live within it. People born and raised inside one generally possess greater physical fitness and life essence than settlement residents outside its boundaries. 28 39
Their capacity is limited, so residents of surrounding settlements commonly purchase temporary quotas for refuge during wind-disaster seasons. Permanent residence is substantially more valuable and is generally tied to housing, resources, or family status within the Blessed Land. 1 173
Formation and Lifecycle
Establishment
A Blessed Land is founded when a heaven and earth spirit root establishes a domain and receives recognition from heaven and earth. During Yu An’s establishment, he engraved the name “Elm” through his Origin Small Tree; the domain expanded, its foundation was confirmed, and golden lotuses manifested across the new Blessed Land. 157 159
The domain’s extent determines how much population, Spirit Field area, and harvestable resources a Blessed Land can support. Yu An’s initial thirty-li domain covered approximately 176.7 square kilometers—about nine times the area of the ten-li New Moon Blessed Land at its founding. 159
Growth and Promotion
Blessed Lands accumulate strength through their spirit roots, population, land, resources, and the cultivation of their lords. The residents and settlements around a Blessed Land continuously provide resources to its heaven and earth spirit root, explaining why smaller Blessed Lands often require centuries to advance. 159
A lord and their contracted spirit root influence one another beneficially. Their joint breakthrough produces the strongest result, but it is rare because both parties must be ready to advance at the same time. 193 243
Destruction and Inheritance
Blessed Lands can be inherited, and control may pass between families; such successions can trigger violent contests for the position of Blessed Land Lord. 15
They can also be breached or annihilated during wind disasters. New Moon Blessed Land was destroyed after its Moon Gazing Vine controlled Song Zhixing, while Cold Mountain and Qixia Blessed Lands were also lost in later disasters. 129 163 200
Structure and Environment
A Blessed Land is centered on its heaven and earth spirit root, which serves as both its foundation and primary source of protection. During the Black Annihilation Wind Disaster, New Moon’s Moon Gazing Vine revealed itself within a radiant domain that sheltered the entire Blessed Land. 23 39
Internal conditions vary by district and proximity to the spirit root:
- Central areas near the spirit root are safer and richer in spiritual energy; New Moon Blessed Land’s central territory near Moon Gazing Peak belonged to the Song family. 26
- Outer districts commonly house migrants and residents from small settlements, often under crowded and poorer conditions. 26 29
- Blessed Lands support markets and streets run by local families because incoming residents cannot rely indefinitely on the supplies they brought from outside. 29
- Spirit roots can determine the land’s primary function, including resource production, settlement capacity, or special cultivation effects. 23
- Advanced Blessed Lands may reshape terrain, create spirit land, and expand Spirit Fields. Yu An transformed Pan Valley’s terrain and turned its central valley floor into spirit land. 224
Types
| Type | Defining trait | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Resource-type Blessed Land | Its spirit root bears valuable products or has special effects, creating major commercial value. | Blessed Lands with fruit-bearing or otherwise useful spirit roots are favored by merchant caravans. 23 |
| Residential Blessed Land | Its spirit root is especially large, allowing the domain to sustain more inhabitants. | Large-scale roots can support population growth even without producing specialty resources. 23 |
| Enlightenment-oriented Blessed Land | Its spirit root assists enlightenment and improves the chance of overcoming cultivation bottlenecks. | A large Blessed Land in the Eastern Domain became revered as a Holy Land for this reason. 23 |
| Holy Land | A major Blessed Land with regional authority over other Blessed Lands. | The Eastern Domain Holy Land oversees Blessed Lands and distributes Immortal Destinies and merit rewards. 128 178 |
Governance and Obligations
A Blessed Land is normally led by a Blessed Land Lord, who contracts with its heaven and earth spirit root. The lord may draw upon the domain’s power, while the spirit root and lord grow through their mutual connection. 193
Blessed Land Lords bear responsibility for the people and land under their protection. Mu Qingcheng states that while Blessed Lands support True Persons, True Persons must also protect Blessed Lands; a lord who only takes from their domain without giving back violates the meaning of a Blessed Land and risks karmic backlash. 218
The Holy Land nominally governs the Blessed Lands of its region. Major and minor Blessed Lands pay Spirit Stones and are subject to its authority, though the Holy Land generally avoids intervening in internal affairs except in matters involving forbidden laws or insectoids. 128 177
Residents and Residency
- Temporary quota holders — Settlement residents who purchase entry during wind disasters; quotas became drastically more expensive when demand surged. 1
- Permanent residents — Families granted long-term housing and the right to settle within the Blessed Land. Foundation Establishment and Qi Refining families may obtain mansions by paying substantial resources. 24 173
- Settlement migrants — Communities assigned to districts after entering for seasonal refuge, such as Ox Ridge Settlement’s placement in North District, Area D of New Moon Blessed Land. 24
- Cultivator families — Key sources of security, commerce, construction, and future population growth; Cangwu attracted more than sixty Qi Refining families and three Foundation Establishment families shortly after opening. 173
Relationships
- Heaven and earth spirit roots — The foundation of every Blessed Land; their traits determine the domain’s protection, scale, and resources. 23 39
- Blessed Land Lords — Contracted cultivators who govern the domain and can borrow its power in battle. 171 193
- Holy Lands — Regional authorities that regulate Blessed Lands, grant Immortal Destinies, and reward insectoid-killing merit. 128 178
- Surrounding settlements — Provide population and resources, while relying on Blessed Lands for refuge during wind disasters. 1 159
- Insectoids — Primary hostile force against Blessed Lands, particularly during promotions that affect world luck. 65 159

Notable Features
- A Blessed Land’s domain can conceal, shelter, and empower its inhabitants, but concealment does not make the domain completely undetectable at close range. 159
- Domains from compatible Blessed Lands can merge. Pan Valley’s Four-in-One Formation allows four connected Blessed Lands to combine their power and temporarily produce Nascent Soul-level combat strength. 300
- Population and land are described as the foundation of a Blessed Land; even ordinary residents can benefit from Power of Creation dispersed through a domain. 223
- Feeding a heaven and earth spirit root human vital essence—or living mortals—can pollute its intelligence and twist it toward extremism. The Holy Land severely punishes direct human sacrifice when discovered. 129
