History

Founding and the Police Force

The Uchiha were one of Konoha’s founding clans, establishing the village alongside the Senju. According to Jin’s account, the “leaf” in Konoha’s name derives from the Uchiha while the Senju represent the “wood.” 143

Hashirama Senju allegedly promised that an Uchiha would become the Second Hokage, but Tobirama Senju succeeded him instead. The Uchiha received control of the Police Force as compensation; Jin considers this both a concession and a political trap, since policing put the clan in constant conflict with civilians while leaving its reputation vulnerable to manipulation. 143

Decline and Isolation

After Uchiha Madara’s departure and Kagami Uchiha’s death, the clan steadily lost influence. By the beginning of the story, it is divided internally, targeted by the Hokage faction, and distrusted by much of Konoha. 1 166
