Background / History

At its height, the Myriad Sword Pavilion was a foremost force in Yunzhou and the Ten Mortal Provinces. It controlled three thousand mortal dynasties, connected its territory to the Ancient Mine, and held influence across surrounding great domains. Its peak was brilliant but brief, lasting only several hundred years under three extraordinarily powerful founding ancestors. 22 213 398

The Pavilion’s foundations were progressively damaged across countless years of decline; by one account, seven or eight parts of its heritage had been lost. Its direct ties had dwindled to three dynasties, and it became vulnerable to rival sects seeking its remaining inheritances. 22 161

Despite its decline, the Pavilion retained major legacy sites and techniques. Its Sword Intent Illusion Array was created during its zenith to introduce new disciples to the Way of the Sword, while the Sword Testing Stone preserved cultivation methods, spirit swords, artifacts, and fragments of the Ten Provinces Famous Sword. 11 135 428

The sect was expected to be destroyed shortly after Chu Huangyue’s departure in the original course of events, leaving only survivors to rebuild it. Its history is described as a repeated cycle of destruction and rebirth, with the inheritance persisting even as the people and organization changed. 1 355

Yun Shu’s rise altered its trajectory. He inherited the Pavilion’s three ancestral paths, accumulated its surviving resources, and took responsibility for restoring its status. Under his leadership, the Pavilion emerged as a major force in the Crimson Cloud Domain and later the Frontier. 201 215 340 591

During the great calamity, the Pavilion was ultimately destroyed but protected by Bi Lang Venerable. Yun Shu allowed disciples to depart and rebuild their lives rather than compel them to remain. It subsequently recruited more than a hundred new disciples, including possessors of Heavenly Spiritual Roots and Special Physiques. 586 589

Legacy and Inheritances

Three Founding Paths

The Pavilion’s peak-era disciples cultivated broadly rather than specializing solely in swordsmanship. Its three major inheritances correspond to:

Sword Pavilion

The Sword Pavilion is a four-story structure that reappears every thirty years at an unpredictable location. Only the top 200 disciples of the Grand Competition may enter when it opens. 172 207

• It was destroyed by Super Sects in the past, but reforms through Mental Energy.
• Its continued existence depends on the thoughts of Myriad Sword Pavilion disciples; as long as the Pavilion’s name remains in someone’s mind, it can continue cycling.
• It tests entrants through illusions, mental-energy pressure, combat against their “true self,” and comprehension of Sword Intents.
• Its upper levels preserve the Nine Great Sword Intents, including elemental intents as well as Devouring and Slaughter Sword Intent. 172 207 208 213

Sword Testing Stone

A back-mountain relic from the Pavilion’s prime, the Sword Testing Stone assesses Sword Intent and grants rewards corresponding to a disciple’s strength and comprehension. 135 428

Development under Yun Shu

Yun Shu initially remained at the Pavilion because its elders had preserved cultivation methods, magical treasures, swords, inheritances, and resources for him. He regarded this as an immense kindness and assumed responsibility for carrying its inheritance forward. 361

His emergence forced the Golden Cauldron Sect—previously the Pavilion’s suppressor—to become cautious. After Yun Shu’s displays of power, the Pavilion was again listed among the Crimson Cloud Domain’s major Immortal Sects. 308 350

The Pavilion’s reputation was further established at the Nine Great Powers’ Grand Competition. Its four representatives achieved exceptional results: three entered the top ten, while all four reached the top fifty. 452 468

By concentrating resources on a small number of disciples, Yun Shu developed several Nascent Soul-stage disciples and demonstrated that the Pavilion’s strength extended beyond its master. 451

The Pavilion later began accepting disciples from other sects at a cost of ten million Low-grade Spirit Stones per disciple, ensuring entrants had both potential and sufficient backing. Mu Qing also invited the surviving Ancestor and Palace Master of Weak Water Palace to join as elders with their remaining disciples. 510
